Dispelling Some Homeschooling Myths, by Lori R.

…invaluable resource for lesson plans, worksheets, printables, arts and crafts, videos, discussion groups, live web-cams, etc. Don’t forget on-line resources such as CraigsList and Freecycle for give-aways. I received a huge ocean collection of coral, shells, starfish, seahorses, even a stuffed shark from a woman who just needed to make room in her house. The collection is actually better than that offered at our local children’s science museum! Homeschool Tracker (www.homeschooltracker.com) offers a free record keeping download that allows you to schedule assignments, record grades and field trips, generate report cards and attendance records, track time spent, log books read and resources used, etc. Search for free classroom or homeschool materials, promotions and give-aways. I have been sent free posters, DVDs, etc. Most giveaways marketed for schools are also available for homeschoolers. Office Max once offered free laminating to teachers, which they extended to homeschoolers. The world is our classroom….

How to Use Amazon for Economical Purchasing- Part 2, by Sarah Latimer

…best prices. I will search by lowest to highest price and also by average customer review (rating). I personally am not interested in the newest arrivals, as I am not one to jump onto the latest and greatest fashion fads. I want tried and true items, especially when it comes to my prepping supplies! The new arrivals usually haven’t had enough buyers to provide good feedback on the products, and this feedback is very important information to me. Use the “Refine By” Options to Get More Specific with Customer Rating, Maker, Size, et cetera. The “Refine By” options are down the left column on my computer. (I don’t use know where they are placed on a Smartphone or iPad, since I like to use the computing tool with the largest screen and multiple tabs when I’m shopping and comparing prices.) When I do a search and come up with thousands…

Letter Re: Celiac Disease: The Gluten-Free Prepping Challenge

…She does charge a fee for her lessons, but with what she’s investing in time to make this available, it is well worth it.  Some of her recipes are free and online, including her latest addition, the gluten free doughnut!    I noted that in the article the author was storing pasta.  Why couldn’t quinoa be stored whole and ground later to make homemade pasta with a hand cranked pasta cutter? You would have longer term storage that way.  Here are links to some quinoa pasta recipes online: One and Two and Three.  It would be important to store the other ingredients like the arrowroot to do this.   For a new resource on gluten free diets, anyone with gluten issues should seriously consider a “paleolithic diet” and there are many new cookbooks on the market.  The Paleolithic diet is naturally gluten free, and based on foods our ancient ancestors…

More Predictions for 2009, by Roger Wiegand

…the mainstream and precious metals. However, with spring flowers in April we are expecting a quintuple smash of: Wave one of commercial real estate foreclosures and loan failures. Some of the biggest of the big buildings will be foreclosed and those planned but not built will never see daylight. Meanwhile, vacancies skyrocket while budgets are busted with dropping rents. One analyst estimated the New York City Financial district buildings will see 66% occupancies with break even budgets being much higher. You will see some major shopping malls shut down. The second wave of residential foreclosures and loan failures arrives dragging down all real estate values both commercial and residential. They will sink like a rock in over-built states and within those regions previously hit the worst. This is related to the next mortgage failure cycle. Some of those formerly upscale, McMansion subdivisions will turn into ghost towns. Wave one of…

Economics & Investing For Preppers

…you make the assumption I believe those death numbers are all COVID. Please consider the following article http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/questions-about-accuracy-of-coronavirus-tests-sow-worry/ar-BB124KXh?ocid=ientp At first glance this would indicate a possible case count deficit of 30%. However a close reading of the article reveals something interesting. “In New York City, “a negative is not clearing anybody who is symptomatic,” said Dara Kass, an emergency-room doctor at New York-Presbyterian, a hospital system. Dr. Kass, who is working from home after she tested positive for coronavirus in mid-March, said all patients with symptoms are being treated as coronavirus-positive, because the disease is so widespread in the city.” This begs the question, since they are TREATING patients with symptoms as coronavirus-positive is New York COUNTING all patients with symptoms as coronavirus-positive? I think this is pretty strong evidence that New York is likely counting all respiratory deaths as coronavirus deaths. Since New York and vicinity numbers are largely…

Retreat Owner Profile: Mr. & Mrs. WWW

…Idaho, I would love having likeminded neighbors like Mr. & Mrs. WWW. They are not the golden horde; not the problem. They are part of the solution. God bless each of you, Krissy Survivormann99 Jason, To quote that celebrated American bard and balladeer, Paul Simon, “A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest…Lie-la-lie.” In looking over the comments to find “all the nasty, ‘holier than thou,’ passive aggressive comments towards the writer,” you refer to, while there may be a little envy creeping in with some commenters’ responses, I’m not seeing much for you to complain about. Humor sometimes doesn’t come through on web sites and emails. Beyond that, merely pointing out existing deficiencies in what comes close to being a 24 karat gold survival plan from someone who has clearly invited comment by posting the article on this blog is expected. I am quite certain…

Some Experiences with Hazmat Cleanup, by Pat O.

…health risks, precautions, and basic instructions on how to deal with it.  These Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are also available online for free.  As part of your personal or family preparation, create a list of all potentially hazardous materials and gather their MSDS.  Study them.  Businesses must have MSDS on hand ready access and display placards of other regulated materials.  Become familiar with those materials you will likely encounter.  It is also worthwhile to collect MSDS for materials manufactured in your area that you might encounter in an emergency.   Another important step is to do a site assessment of your home or site, to determine what potential hazardous materials are around.  Some suggestions may include old mining sites (especially in the western US), railroad tracks, highways or interstates, old manufacturing sites, steel mills, regional chemical plants, power lines, and especially pipelines.  All of these pose risk of chemical…

My Ten-Day Test-My-Preps Adventure – Part 4, by St. Funogas

…pulled the trigger and declared, “Yup, it works.” I’m embarrassed to confess that’s as far as I took testing that particular prep. The SPS capability turned out to be the most exciting discovery of my whole grid-own experiment. Nothing else came close. Here’s what happened. The Sunny Boy 3000 Secure Power Supply The morning after I began my grid-down test it was urgent to get my freezer running. I went out to the shop and activated my SPS unit. The company’s website promotes it with a small blurb about little things it can do, including one commenter who mentioned a guy who powered his beer refrigerator with it. They all missed the point, as I originally did, of the SPS’s capabilities. The SPS can extract 1,500 watts of electricity (2,000 on the newer models) from the solar panels during a grid-down event when all other inverters throughout the land are…

Smallpox? – Managing a Serious Possibility, by SwampFox

…Plagues of many types have ravaged the people of the earth in the past, and it could well happen again with or without the assistance, planning, and manipulation by malevolent powers. Do not lose sight of the fact that we should not live in fear or in prolonged isolation as it weakens us physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Stay strong, and rejoice! For those of us who believe, these events are foretold in the Book of Revelation. The struggle is only temporary, and evil does NOT win! In Luke 21:28 we are instructed, “Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” References https://www.coreysdigs.com/health-science/smallpox-threat-or-false-flag-a-telling-timeline/ https://www.sgtreport.com/ https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/our-work/exercises/2001_dark-winter/about.html https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/our-work/Center-projects/completed-projects/spars-pandemic-scenario.html https://jhsphcenterforhealthsecurity.s3.amazonaws.com/spars-pandemic-scenario.pdf https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/American-Pandemic-Preparedness-Transforming-Our-Capabilities-Final-For-Web.pdf https://infogalactic.com/info/Operation_Dark_Winter https://www.centerforhealthsecurity.org/our-work/events-archive/2001_dark-winter/ https://www.science.org/content/article/how-canadian-researchers-reconstituted-extinct-poxvirus-100000-using-mail-order-dna https://thebulletin.org/2020/02/a-biotech-firm-made-a-smallpox-like-virus-on-purpose-nobody-seems-to-care/ https://www.cdc.gov/smallpox/clinicians/transmission.html#:~:text=A%20person%20is%20considered%20at,approximately%2060%25%20among%20unvaccinated%20individuals. https://www.cebm.net/evidence-synthesis/transmission-dynamics-of-covid-19/ https://news.yahoo.com/bill-gates-warns-smallpox-terror-000100099.html https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/conspiracy-theorists-think-bill-gates-will-unleash-smallpox-on-christmas/ar-AAR0k0U https://thepowerhour.com/just-days-after-bill-gates-warns-of-smallpox-attack-multiple-vials-labeled-smallpox-found-in-merck-lab/ http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK570614 https://www.cdc.gov/smallpox/symptoms/index.html https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/smallpox/symptoms-causes/syc-20353027 https://www.cdc.gov/smallpox/clinicians/transmission.html https://covid19criticalcare.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/FLCCC-Alliance-I-MASKplus-Protocol-ENGLISH.pdf https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-020-02277-6 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zcq9SxVmrK4 https://www.fredhutch.org/en/news/spotlight/2018/07/hb_hickson_virology.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaccinia https://www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov/therapies/antiviral-therapy/nitazoxanide/ https://grandmageri422.me/2018/07/22/the-georgia-guide-stones-population-control-and-the-coming-antichrist/ https://www.chemistryworld.com/news/rediscovered-native-american-remedy-kills-poxvirus/3003420.article https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3302891/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarracenia_purpurea https://www.thespruce.com/purple-pitcher-plants-for-water-gardens-4125720 https://www.carnivorousplants.co.uk/resources/how-to-grow-pitcher-plants/ https://askinglot.com/how-long-can-you-keep-herbal-tinctures https://www.katedalleyshow.com/show-topics/where-to-get-saracena-purpurea-for-small-pox/ Hickson SE, Margineantu D, Hockenbery…

A Prepping Change: My Move to New Mexico, by M.J.

…a reluctance by people in the Redoubt to hire a California escapee – they might think that I am out to “Californicate” the Redoubt. Some Californians might want to do that, but I’m not one of them. As to the other problems, all I can do is obtain some more certificates using the extra free time that working from home allows. Furthermore, I have family in New Mexico whose help has been invaluable recently; I have no family or friends in the Redoubt. Perhaps not getting a job in the Redoubt at this time was a blessing in disguise. I confess to some ambivalence about the move. It was expensive. I have to learn a new city, new laws, get a new driver’s license, get new health insurance, and learn a new social scene. I miss my friends and family back in California, and I miss the beach. Say what…
