In addition to traditional banner ads in the right hand column, we now offer text ads (text between articles) for just $100 per month. Those who choose to run the traditional banner ads with us also get access to the text ads …

Editors’ Quote Of The Day

“Survivalist Rhapsody” (Sung to the tune of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody) Is this the real thing? Is this just fantasy? The Apoc-a-lypse? No, just cold re-al-ity. Open your eyes, Read Tappan, see, I’m a survivalist, I’ve got no empathy, Because I’m ready now, H. und K., Rations high, profile low, No matter the scenario doesn’t really matter to me, to me.

SurvivalBlog Resources: Retreat Security

Introductory Note: The following is another in a series of articles by JWR that will link to some of the thousands of archived SurvivalBlog articles and letters, grouped topically. Today, we address the broad issue of retreat security measures. In my estimation, many preppers have a tendency to over-buy on their gun budget and under-buy on their night vision and intrusion detection budget. I would much rather own just a few guns and have a full complement of other key retreat security gear. After all, humans can’t see well at night with un-aided eyes, and we can’t be vigilant 24 …

SurvivalBlog Resources: Liquid Fuels Storage and Transfer

Introductory Note: The following is the first of a series of articles by JWR that will profile some of the thousands of archived SurvivalBlog articles, grouped topically. Storing and transferring liquid fuels is topic that often comes up in conversations with my consulting clients and in letters from SurvivalBlog readers. There seems to be a lack of knowledge or misinformed voodoo out there in the general public about liquid fuel shelf life, flammability, containers, and how to transfer fuel when the power grids are down. But those questions have all been “asked and answered” in SurvivalBlog, over the course of …

A Redoubtable Internet Business is For Sale

I’m announcing the availability of what is currently a home-based Internet sales business in the American Redoubt. But the business could be operated from anywhere in the United States. I have known the family who owns this online company since before they even started the business more than six years ago, back when they had a house full of toddlers. After six years of building their online presence and excellent reputation, they believe that God has something else for their family and that they need to pursue that. The family has exhibited the same high level of integrity in their …

Enjoying (and Surviving) Solar Eclipse 2017

On August 21, 2017, residents of a narrow swath through the United States will have a rare treat: The chance to observe a total eclipse of the sun. The path of totality will transit several major cities, including Greenville, South Carolina and parts of St. Louis, Kansas City, and Nashville. In the west, most of the viewing will be in smaller towns, since major cities, like Denver and Portland, are well outside of the path of totality. Because this eclipse is occurring in mid-summer (with a lower chance of cloud cover), there should be good opportunities for viewing, if you …
