The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods:

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “HJL”. Our Hearts and prayers go out to the victims of Las Vegas, Nevada Shooting.

Nevada Shooting

In the deadliest mass shooting incident in modern U.S. history, a gunman has killed at least 59 people and injured 500+ others. The shooter obtained a 32nd floor room facing an outdoor venue at a concert and continued firing until police entered the room and killed him. No official motive has been released yet. Our thoughts and prayers go with the victims, but this also stands as a warning as to the dangers of large congregations of people.

Never one to let a good emergency go to waste, Hillary Clinton (among others) jumped right on the anti-gun bandwagon claiming a suppressor would have made things much worse and blaming the NRA. Of course, simple physics dictates that a “suppressor” would not have helped the shooter at all. But why let facts get in the way?

CBS terminated an executive today after a heartless tweet. Haley Geftman-Gold, vice President and Senior Counsel at CBS’s legal department made a typical leftist statement about having no sympathy for the victims because they were probably Republicans. (Because, apparently, only Republicans listen to country music.)

More Hepatitis

The hepatitis on the west coast continues to spread with Seattle being the latest major city to deal with the outbreak. King County is taking aggressive action and removing homeless people off the streets to power wash them (the streets, that is.) A hepatitis outbreak is what it took to get the city to do what they should have been doing all along. Remember, this is the city that compared power washing the streets to using fire hoses on blacks. Suddenly now, managing hygiene isn’t racist after all. Remember, the single best defense against Hepatitis A is simply washing your hands (especially before you eat or touch your face.) Thanks to P.S. for the link.

Fascism

The American far left (Antifa) likes to complain that Trump is a fascist, but they should be looking no further than the Spain Catalan Referendum on independence. The government of Spain claims the vote is illegal and actively worked to shut it down. Even to the point of firing rubber bullets and brutally beating those who came to vote at the polls. Despite the jack-booted treatment, the referendum passed with 89% of Catalans voting for independence. Of course, Antifa won’t look at that because the actions of the Spanish government are very similar to their own actions. Thanks to H.L. for the link.

Reason #5033 to Leave Public School

Reader G.G. sent this link on British schools. Across the country, schools are abandoning the traditional terms of “BC” and “AD” in favor of “BCE” (Before Common Era) and “CE” (Common Era). I wouldn’t have an issue with this if the reasoning was sound. We know that there are errors in the date (probably somewhere between 4 to 8 years) when using “BC” and “AD”, but that is not why they are abandoning it. Their reasoning is so they don’t offend non-Christians (read that as Muslims). The sad part is that both Muslim and Jewish leaders have publicly stated that they are not offended by the terms. Another solution in search of a problem.

Can You Hear Me Now?

After two devastating hurricanes, you would think that every able-bodied Puerto Rican would be out clearing roads, driveways and repairing their homes to better their living conditions. You would be wrong. Apparently, millennials are diligently searching for and gathering in droves at locations with cell phone service so they can get back on social media. The photos in this article would be funny if the circumstances weren’t so sad.

News Tips:

Please send your news tips to HJL. (Either via e-mail of via our Contact form.) These are often especially relevant, because they come from folks who watch news that is important to them. Due to their diligence and focus, we benefit from fresh “on target” news. We often “get the scoop” on news that is most likely ignored (or reported late) by mainstream American news outlets. Thanks!

    1. As a woman, I would never vote for a woman who stays with a husband who will not keep his penis in his pants. What is a woman like that teaching her daughter.

  1. That witch is just freaking evil. Go home and play grandma. Hitlery and Billy Bob Bubba for grandparents and Chelsea for a mama, I feel sorry for those poor kids.

  2. Big fat lazy worthless slobs glued to their video tubes. The only person ‘working’ to restore society in that photo set was a thin, decrepit old man, while droves of able-fat-bodied younger puerto rican’s sat around on their face-twits complaining the government isn’t giving them enough free stuff. Sickening.

  3. Nevada Shooting:

Folks to need compare this attack to the one a year ago in Nice with a similar number of casualties, before they go down the gun control route. Also, with our porous border, which doesn’t seem to be getting any more secure anytime soon, any outlawed weapons could be smuggled across.

    2016 Nice attack
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_Nice_attack
“This article is about the 2016 vehicle-ramming attack. For the 2015 stabbing attack, see 2015 Nice attack.”

Attack type: Vehicle-ramming attack, shooting, massacre
    Weapons: Cargo truck, 7.65mm pistol
    Deaths: 87 (including the perpetrator)
    Non-fatal injuries: 434

  4. Unfortunately I was correct a days ago predicting on a Hurricance post on Survivalblog.com that a wave(s) of Puerto Rican refugees will be coming to Orlando and other cities in Florida.
Florida Gov. Rick Scott is having taxpayers foot the bill for bringing them to Florida permanently, housing them, finding them jobs, educating their children and the list goes on. This wave will be about 100,000 refugees.
If anyone was hoping they would dig themselves out here is the answer to that thought. Let someone pay for their new home while at the same time forgive the 70- 90 billion dollar debt racked up.
Territorial Puerto Ricans get a one way cruise ship (or plane ride) to the states while Texan critizens get a one way barge ride.
Floridians be ready and prepared for the aftereffects of Hurricane Maria.

  5. P.S.

Now that I’m ranting from the previous post … Tom Petty was good and best to him in whatever Bardo he’s traveling thru.
Steely Dan’s Walter Becker passed away recently. I enjoyed his work with Donald Fagan and his solo music.
So, “roll out the b*nes and raise up your pitcher … “.
