Recipe of the Week: American Pozole, by J.M.

Ingredients:

  • 4 pork steaks
  • Salt and pepper
  • 1 (14 1/2 oz) can of hominy, drained
  • 1 small, chopped onion
  • 1 (4 oz) can of diced green chili, drained
  • 1 tsp of red chili powder

Directions:

  1. Trim the fat off of the pork steaks, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  2. Combine hominy with onion, chili pepper and chili powder in a pot.
  3. Arrange the pork steaks over the hominy.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 to 6 hours adding water as necessary to keep it from cooking dry.

  1. Thank you for this wonderful recipe. I was stationed at Kirtland AFB, NM, and used to eat this wonderful meal with some locals during the winter months. Sadly, my digestive system does not allow me to eat the hotter foods. This posting brings back great memories, thanks again.
