“No amount of statistics or facts will sway either side in the gun control debate, because they are all looking for simple solutions to complex problems. The facts of those complex problems are uncomfortable and nobody really wants to come to grips with them.
For example, we don’t really have a single America with a moderately high rate of gun deaths. Instead, we have two Americas, one of which has very high rates of gun ownership but very low murder rates, very comparable to the rest of the First World democracies such as those in western and northern Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, South Korea. The other America has much lower rates of gun ownership but much, much higher murder rates, akin to violent third world countries.
The tough questions are those like, why do we have these two Americas? But that’s an uncomfortable discussion to have. So instead those on the left favor simple minded restrictions that target first world America, with its high gun ownership but very low murder rate, but don’t address the root causes of third world America’s violence at all. Meanwhile those on the right correctly feel their civil rights are constantly threatened, so they are constantly in a state of ‘better stock up before they finally ban it’ and the guns and ammo fly off the shelves. The left’s constant gun control rhetoric is the greatest thing ever for arms manufacturers.
Meanwhile, over the past 40 years, while the number of guns in private hands has doubled, the murder rate has dropped by half. The left are constantly prattling about ‘assault weapons’ which are almost never used to commit murders (about 1% of gun murders; all rifles combined are around 3%). More murders are committed with baseball bats than ‘assault rifles’; the vast majority of gun homicides are committed with handguns, but it’s easier to sell restrictions that target ‘assault weapons’, even though such restrictions, even if 100% effective, would make no detectable change in the murder rate (especially because of substitution effects). They favor ridiculous measures such as bans on “high capacity magazines”, as if magazines weren’t cheap and easily swapped out in a fraction of a second.” – Michael Owen
Neither the left or the right will ever let the “OTHER SIDE” lose the debate because is raises way too much money for both sides! Now you know the dirty little secret about gun control and why nothing ever gets done.
You really need to examine the history of gun laws in the US. Since 1934 there has been a creeping series of the gun owners giving in to various laws limiting gun ownership. Every time the anti-gun groups want to ‘establish a discussion’ on what are ‘common sense’ laws regulating gun ownership it turns into another surrender of gun owners’ rights. The gun owners have ‘lost the debate’ too many times and you are fooling yourself if you think they won’t take it all if they can. The only stand left for gun owners is ‘No Surrender!’
The gun debate should never be up to those whom don’t bear arms-the Left. No one that has ever driven or owened an automobile should be allowed to pass legislation to ban all automobiles for the drivers who choose to utilize them. The LEFT must never be allowed to push for banning firearms. How that is done is by pointing out:
1) they have pushed and implemented the 45 Communist goals outlined by Dr. Leon Scousen (look up on Internet). The Democratic Party needs to be called out for whom they are- Communists donning American citizenship. They should be run off to Canada where they rightfully go when they’re asked to wear the UnifOrm in a military Draft. They have no right to pass legislation in a Christian nation unless we allow them.
2) Senator Dianne Fienstein of the People’s Republic of California has stated that the greatest legislation decision of her time is Rowe vs. Wade. At the same time she has a Bill already drafted to remove all guns from citizens. The argument should be that guns take 10,000 lives per year in homicide and abortion 1.4-million lives per annum. Republicans need to push abortion control when the LEFT pushes gun control.
3) every time there are 50 to 100 to 150 murders in Europe with ISIS behind the deaths the LEFT never pushes for Muslim control in Europe. But they want gun control when one person is killed.
It’s not about guns or money but about CONTROL. Read your military history… and the guns are collected,what happens? Yes massive genocde for those who don’t obey the government program of the day. Over 171,000,000 deaths in the last century alone from the LEFTs governmental “good for society ” programs. Stay well stocked folks and get the LEFT out.
If “gun control” is about safety for the citizens, why hasn’t the “left” tried to reform mental health laws and a plethora of other social ills? They had the opportunity under Obama but did NOTHING. The answer is that they (yes, THEY are communists) want to ban guns and actually promote gun crime as a vehicle to push their agenda. Look at Chicago! The election of DT has postponed their grandiose plans and they are angry. We have to double down our support for DT and be wary of the next election cycle. You’ll see a lot of nefarious activity before then.
