Most people don’t think about how much the government takes in the form of taxes (federal, VATs, property), state and professional fees, mandatory insurance, etc. For me, an average working man, I stopped counting when the total hit 45% of my gross income. Ten percent would be a blessing (and might help me survive despite 6 years without a raise of any kind).
