Survival Fitness and Health- Part 3, by JBH

This article is about physical fitness, because I believe it is most important for those who want to survive some of the potentially devastating and even not so devastating situations that one can encounter today. I’m not an athlete but have been involved in fitness training for decades and done quite a bit of research as well. As an introduction to the concept of fitness, I identified its components– muscular strength, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and body composition.

This essay series is for informational purposes only. Fitness concepts are discussed that the reader may find informative, however the reader is advised to visit their health care provider and obtain medical clearance prior to embarking on any exercise program. The author is not a health care professional and assumes no responsibility for injuries or detrimental health effects the reader may sustain from performing any fitness regimen.

Body Composition (continued)

In our current society, fat is viewed as a shameful thing. From my observation, this is especially hard on women. We want everyone, especially our women, to appear lean and hard. This was not always the case. Century’s old art indicates that a little extra weight on women was viewed as positive at many points in our past. Why would that be, and why would it change?

Some Conclusions From Observation About Body Fat

I do not know for sure but during my time as a Navy Physical Fitness Coordinator I came to some conclusions based years of observations. They will be presented, though you may disagree. I will state that I am a male who does not typically struggle with weight.

Preparedness Notes for Thursday – September 06, 2018

September 6th, 1757 is the birthday of Marquis de Lafayette (often known simply as Lafayette), a French aristocrat and military officer who fought in the American Revolutionary War. He was a close friend of George Washington, Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson. George Washington met him through his connections in the Free Masons and was impressed with him. After he offered to serve without pay, Congress commissioned him as a Major General and he was an integral part of the battles at Brandywine and Valley Forge.

Muscular Strength (continued)

In Part 1, we went over the the benefits of muscular strength and benefits of exercise versus labor activities and then began revealing resources for exercises to strengthen. We will pick up there, with more resources for strengthening exercises.

For Those Who Lift Weights

For those who want to lift weights, research the Stronglifts 5×5 program. It’s an incredibly simple and sound way to build strength, and it is also an old system that has been used at least 50 years or more. You will need to do some cardiovascular training and stretching to round this out.

The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods:

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “HJL”. Now we know how the next pandemic will spread.

The Long Game

Recent news of Nike’s boneheaded decision to make Kaepernick the face of its ads along with Levi Strauss’ idiocy in forming a gun-gontrol group with Bloomberg seems like an episode straight out of The Twilight Zone. Why would these successful companies work so hard at alienating a significant portion of their consumer base – especially after watching the implosion of Dick’s Sporting Goods? Nike’s stock has lost nearly $5 billion and Levi Strauss faces a similar catastrophe. But then maybe it’s not that straight forward. This article links both companies to “made in China” contracts which then subcontracts the work out to North Korea. Taking a stand against Donald Trump and his tariff may be at the heart of the moves. While they may be American companies, their bottom line is closely tied to anti-American contracts. Thanks to readers D.S. and G.P. for the links.

Killer Kids

Reader T.J. sent in this video from The Patriot Nurse that gives a level headed argument on why our kids are becoming Killers. While the media wants to play up the fact that they use firearms most of the time to commit mass murders, the root of the problem isn’t easy access to firearms. It’s not even violent video games. The sole responsability is our society’s lack of parenting. Rather than spend time with our children, we plop them down in front of electronic devices. We don’t teach them socialized behavior anymore. These kids are basically growing up feral. Perhaps the media needs to read The Lord of the Flies again.

Preparedness Notes for Wednesday – September 05, 2018

On September 5, 1774, fed up with the meddling of the crown and being mostly independant-minded, our nation’s founding fathers met together in the First Continental Congress, in Philadelphia, laying the foundation of what would become the world’s greatest nation.

The author is not a health care professional and assumes no responsibility for injuries or detrimental health effects the reader may sustain from performing any fitness regimen.

As evidenced by the multitude of subjects covered in SurvivalBlog and other preparedness websites, many elements come into play if you desire to survive some of the potentially devastating and even not so devastating situations that one can encounter today. What is the most important element? Beans? Band-Aids? Opsec?

Physical Abilities– Most Important Element For Survival

Arguably, the most important element to me is physical fitness. If you were to counter with skills and attitude, I would not argue too hard with you, but I would perhaps offer that, although well armed, the gentlemen described below do not appear as if they will do very well in a difficult survival situation. But then again, who knows? I will discuss that later.

Regardless of whether it is the most important element or not, I would argue the following is important. Without the following physical abilities and attributes, you will not fare well in a survival situation (and you will struggle in normal situations):

Books:

Just released yesterday (September 4th, 2018): The Last Hour: An Israeli Insider Looks at the End Times. In the past two years, I have spent dozens of hours listening to Amir Tsarfati’s analyses of the situation in the Middle East. He has the level-headed reasoning of an intelligence officer (which he is, in the IDF Reserve), but also has the perspective of a Christian. This promises to be a great book. I pre-ordered mine, and it just arrived on Tuesday. I can’t wait to read it!

The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism.” – George Washington

Preparedness Notes for Tuesday – September 04, 2018

September 4, 1862 is the fateful day that General Lee invaded the North with 50,000 troops. Historians will banter back and forth about the real reasons for the civil war, but we will probably never fully understand. It is my personal belief that General Lee was gambling on a quick offensive because the South did not have the resources for a prolonged war. Whatever the case was, President Abraham Lincoln trampled the Constitution and created the foundation for the “Big Brother” government we have today.

Preventing the Statists’ Planned Coup de Maître

For more than a decade I’ve been saying that we are living in the age of deception and betrayal. Recent events here in the United States have now proven that, without any doubt.

In July of this year, I warned that a new wave of overt Internet censorship was developing. I did so in an article titled: The Internet Gulag: Demonetization, Demonization, and Deletion.

à La Nancy Kerrigan

On Monday August 6, 2018, at least a dozen social[ist] media web services launched a coordinated deletion attack on InfoWars.com. Four more followed suit, within a few days. This was no coincidence. For so many sites to blacklist InfoWars all on the same day must have taken planning and agreement between many corporate executives. (Ironically, they had accused Alex Jones of promotting “conspiracy theories” and then those same executives conspired together, to ban him.) And this was not just some politely orchestrated shaming event. This was a similitude of a full-on Nancy Kerrigan-style baton stroke to the kneecap. Thousands of hours of videos archives were removed. It is noteworthy that before the ban, Alex Jones had more than 2 million YouTube subscribers. His show is is still carried on dozens of AM talk radio stations across the country. And it can still be heard at Real.video. But don’t look for any video or audio of the show in social media. It is gone. Poof! Down the Memory Hole.
