The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“The day soldiers stop bringing you their problems is the day you have stopped leading them. They have either lost confidence that you can help them or concluded that you do not care. Either case is a failure of leadership.” – Gen. Colin Powell

  1. 500 metric tons of yellowcake uranium and tens of thousands of chemical warheads for artillery were found. Yellowcake uranium is the prime precursor to developing weapons grade uranium. And chemical warheads are WMD. The left now argues that neither the yellowcake nor the chemical warheads were usable, but that is a different argument than whether they existed.

  2. “The yellowcake removed from Iraq in 2008 was material that had long since been identified, documented, and stored in sealed containers under the supervision of U.N. inspectors. It was not a “secret” cache that was recently “discovered” by the U.S, nor had the yellowcake been purchased by Iraq in the years immediately preceding the 2003 invasion. The uranium was the remnants of decades-old nuclear reactor projects that had put out of commission many years earlier: One reactor at Al Tuwaitha was bombed by Israel in 1981, and another was bombed and disabled during Operation Desert Storm in 1991.”

  3. He obviously had to adhere to the party line, and early on, it did seem that there were WMDs. This notwithstanding, Colin Powell is one of the most honest and dedicated public servants we had had in many years.

    1. There never was any credable allegations of wmd-every on the ground source reported full compliance and disputed the then provable elimination of all wmd. This was propaganda by the neocons/penac for war at any cost. Remember Cheny had already sold Iraqi oil rights and had to deliver. Operation Iraqi Liberation(OIL) was underway. We have never seen these criminals prosecuted and I would like to see them all hung after being tortured like they did to others.

      1. Exactly! And the chemical “weapons” were 80’s era, built using chemicals sourced from companies with the help of Rumsfeld, and were so decrepit they couldn’t be moved much less fired.
