Hugh, In response to Jonathan’s letter about places to consider in Idaho, I would like to make the case for two small towns named Pierce and Weippe (We-I-P). While JR got close to talking about them when he mentioned Fraser (“Freezer”), I think he may be overlooking a couple of gems. The population of Pierce is just over 500 and Weippe just over 400. The local K-12 school (Timberline) has a total of just over 200 kids with an average class size of 16 (several classes only 3, 4, or 5). Pierce and Weippe are about 10 miles apart, and …

Hello, This is intended for Jonathan Rawles. Thank you for that article. I’ve been a reader since 2007. I’ve lost my income and am loosing my home here in Montana. It is a “mix bag” in Montana with liberals everywhere. Also, this area of Montana– Lincoln County– will be a target. Washington’s newly-enacted I-594 private party gun sales ban went into effect. This onerous law makes it illegal for citizens to sell guns (and even flare guns) to each other without routing the transfer through a FFL holder and doing a background check. The new law is just one more reason for freedom-loving Eastern Washington to seek partition from liberal/statist Western Washington. (The two halves of the state now have very little in common!)
