In those 22-23 states which have an operational State Guard or Self Defense Force (in California its called the California Military Reserve) we have the modern day expression of the militia. If you live in one of those states, I strongly encourage you to visit your State Guard unit at monthly drill and consider joining. You’ll find lots of like minded folks who are willing to volunteer to serve their state.
If you don’t live in one of those states, I encourage you to write a note to you state legislator, recommending activation of a State Guard to provide the cadre for expansion of the militia in a disaster.

Author doesn’t understand the term “well regulated” as used. It means well equipped,as in gear,weapons,supplies and training.
