The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “JWR”. Our goal is to educate our readers, to help them to recognize emerging threats, and to be better prepared for both disasters and negative societal trends. You can’t mitigate a risk if you haven’t first identified a risk. Today, we look at rural population losses.

Rural Population Losses Add to Farm and Ranch Labor Shortage

As reported by the Newsmax news site: Rural Population Losses Add to Farm and Ranch Labor Shortage. This article’s intro:

“Rural America lost more population in the latest census, highlighting an already severe worker shortage in the nation’s farming and ranching regions and drawing calls from those industries for immigration reform to help ease the problem.

The census data released last week showed that population gains in many rural areas were driven by increases in Hispanic and Latino residents, many of whom come as immigrants to work on farms or in meatpacking plants or to start their own businesses.”

DHS: Opposing COVID Restrictions Equated To Terrorism

Over at Activist Post: DHS: Opposing COVID Restrictions Equated To Terrorism. Here is an excerpt:

As more U.S agencies are weaponized against American citizens, those who oppose policies of mandated masks, social distancing and lockdown are increasingly categorized as “enemies of the state.” The Technocrats who orchestrate this want to silence all opposition.

The DHS alert encourages Americans to “report threats of violence, including online threats, to local law enforcement, FBI field offices, or local Fusion Center.”

Western States Face First Federal Water Cuts

Reader C.B. sent us the link to this, over at Fox News: Western states face first federal water cuts. The article begins:

U.S. officials on Monday are expected to declare the first-ever water shortage from a river that serves 40 million people in the West, triggering cuts to some Arizona farmers next year amid a gripping drought.

Water levels at the largest reservoir on the Colorado River — Lake Mead — have fallen to record lows. Along its perimeter, a white “bathtub ring” of minerals outlines where the high water line once stood, underscoring the acute water challenges for a region facing a growing population and a drought that is being worsened by hotter, drier weather brought on by climate change.

States, cities, farmers and others have diversified their water sources over the years, helping soften the blow of the upcoming cuts. But if current conditions persist — or intensify — additional cuts in coming years will be more deeply felt.”
