Andrew Rowan, born April 23, 1857 (died 1943) became one of the Spanish-American War’s most famous heroes because of a surprisingly popular essay written by Elbert Hubbard entitled “Message to Garcia”, detailing Rowan’s heroic acts as a liaison obtaining military intelligence.
