I have a BayGen Freeplay radio classic–the first one. During power outage from Hurricane Irma, it was working fine for some time, then I wound it up one more time and it made a loud noise and the crank un-wound very very fast. Now it doesn’t work. There is resistance when I wound it but when I let it go it does not unwind. I don’t want to throw it away, but from what I’ve read it’s dangerous to open and repair. Have any ideas of what I can do to repair this radio? I’ve been searching the web for about an hour and a half now with no real help on fixing it. I have a background in electronics so I kind of know what I’m doing, but I’ve never dealt with a windup mechanism for power. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
