Preparedness Notes for Thursday – January 17, 2019

In his farewell address to the nation on January 17th, 1961, President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned the American people to keep a careful eye on what he called the “military-industrial complex” that had developed in the post-World War II years. We didn’t do a very good job of listening to his warnings.

    1. piss poor General, other Generals in WW2 were far better tacticians than him, may have been OK as a President though, he also benefitted from the MIC as those at the top, pot calling the kettle black !

    1. The German and Japanese military industrial complexes (their “war machines”) were utterly and totally destroyed by the US military industrial complex. Now the US MIC supplies most of the world.

      That was my point.

      1. But first our industrialists supplied the militaries of the opposing forces. Research Watson of IBM and the Bushes before GHW Bush. Young men on both sides died by the millions, but our industrialists became more and more wealthy.

  1. US budget was $590 Billion in 2017 for defense 15% of the federal budget.

For FY 2019 proposed military budget is $681,1 Billion with a B.

Somehow I don’t think the framers of the Constitution meant for the US is to have this size of US treasure involved in a permanent standing army with a military corporate business model with its nose stuck in all over the world. Especially a military business without the involvement of most of the US citizenry. We need the militia model re-introduced back into defense of the US so we don’t go running off half cocked all over the world. Because militia citizens aren’t as likely to be sheeple looking for a fight so they can use their bright shiny new toys.
I recommend a very good book called: “People of The Lie” by M. Scott Peck, M.D. He was hired by the pentagon to look inti the Mi Lie massacre in Vietnam. His conclusions are quite interesting and begs for the involvement of the US citizens to be involved in military conflict instead of hiring a professional standing army to do our “dirty work” for us so we can stay pleasantly ignorant of the messy goings on of our government across the world.

    1. well the MIC is just getting bigger !………..here in Oz we have gone from 1 battalion of Marines stationed permanantly in Darwin to a heck of a lot more ! ( done very, very quietly ), no one asked the Australian people about that, not amused, never mind the fact the ADF can’t fight it’s way out of a wet paper bag and is going all out for PC correctness with open adverts for trans and cross gender recruitment.

      Digger 1:

” oh look !, stevie has dropped her rifle and put on her pink camo chiffon and pink boots to confuse the enemy ”

      Digger 2:

” Since Stevie is a she, we should shoot the bastard now before we all die from the enemy laughing at us ”

Digger 1 : ” See ?……I told ya we needed the Yanks to protect us again ” ! .

      – off in the distance the soldiers hear uproarious laughter coming from the surrounding hills –

  2. Whew, oly, you put your finger on it. Even as the WAR (not defense, that is a lie) budget is so high, there are forces attempting to privatize the Veterans Administration. The VA has been very good to me and I fear we are being sold a pig in a poke.

Imagine how we might expand and improve the VA with some of that $590B. Perhaps, divert funding for some of the weapons systems the military themselves denounce.

    Carry on

  3. Once a Marine, I agree, it is a war budget. The framers of our Constitution and Founders of our Republic which has turned into a socialist chaos, never intended for the US to field a beast of a standing army running around the world as a police action. If there was presently a citizen militia as originally there was, the question asked by that citizen militia would be “WHY”, when they were ordered to some police action on the other side of the world. We have a huge military business in Washington exerting pressure on congress with money to feed the beast we have created by a citizenry who hires their dirty work done for them by a professional war business instead of having to be involved themselves. Well, now that I have that off my heaving chest. My original intent at this post: I highly recommend the book “People of the Lie” The Hope for Healing Human Evil. by M. Scott Peck, M.D. He is also the Author of “The Road Less Traveled” and subsequent books along that line. He integrates the deepest insights of psychiatry with those of the Bible. I encourage all Constitution loving patriots to read these books to further broaden your insights into the coming chaos.
