A better gardening book is Steve Solomon’s Gardening when It Counts. a good book on amending your soil is Michael Astera’s The Ideal Soil. (it could have been the Big Dummies guide to making your soil better) a well balanced soil will produce high Brix plants which resists
disease and insects and tastes better also. Buy a refractometer. I also use a EC meter which an indication of how much fertilizer I have for my plants to grow. The best fertilizer out there is Growers Mineral Solutions which has all the nutrients and in the right order for plants to grow.
I have almost no disease issues with my plants. But on potatoes and stone fruits, there is the Colorado Potato Beetle and the Plum Curculio and the GMS fertilizers gives the plants and trees the nutrients to grow a crop healthy enough that the plants can resist these insects.
look up John Kempf’s Plant Health Pyramid on the AEA website and that shows (to me) why
GMS works.
Jim,
Not sure if you noticed, but the link to Amazon for the Trijicon ACOG contains multiple reviews of these items being fake. While there are plenty of positive reviews, I would never gamble nearly $1100 on an unknown when there are so many options available to us. Why not just avoid that and link to our mutual friend in Tellico Plains, who has never failed to negotiate price when I’ve visited on numerous occasions, or at least someone who supports the 2nd Amendment. I know Jeff Bezos needs the money; poor fellow only made $12 billion in ONE DAY several weeks ago and it’s probably getting hard for him to support the fervent anti-gun agenda in his newspaper, The Washington Compost. Maybe it doesn’t even matter anymore, but I will always support those who support us first.
Knipex are very high quality tools. If you want to get the best bang out of this tool, get the 7131200 model instead of the 7101200. Theses are both 8”. The 7121200 model has a small opening in the blade to allow a slightly larger cutting bite. Just be aware of that option, and to each his own.
The book How to Survive the End of the World as We Know It makes a great gift for other preppers, as would one of JWR’s novels.
It is outstanding! I literally wore my copy out after reading it so many times.
I bought the Knipex 7101200 shortly after I found out that Sears gives a 20% discount on Craftsman (tools only) to veterans all of the time – you have to ask for it. I bought it specifically for my GHB in the event that E&E was required. It does work great but the weight is a disadvantage for a long haul. I have reverted back to my Xuron 2193 hard music wire cutter (made in USA). It is ~$12 and maybe a quarter of the weight. We had some scrap vinyl coated steel and aluminum chain link fencing materials in the recycle bin at work, so I tried them both. The Knipex required a bit less effort, but they both did the job.
I used to click the Amazon links regularly just to feed the SurvivalBlog coffers, but I now avoid it due to the fact that Amazon and Bezos are diametrically opposed to my beliefs and morals. I will happily participate in the 10 cent challenge, since I am not a freeloader. I do believe that SurvivalBlog should look for other methodologies and avoid Amazon altogether.
i know i recently got a double pistol mag pouch from AR500 not knowing it was a condor…it is one of the best stitched, well made condor products i’ve seen…if you go to their site, they appear to have an upgraded line of products now…not sure about the one posted here…most of the AR 3 mag pouches didn’t have the greatest reviews…
