SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “JWR”. Our goal is to educate our readers, to help them to recognize emerging threats and to be better prepared for both disasters and negative societal trends. You can’t mitigate a risk if you haven’t first identified a risk. Today, we look at the suspected nascent Grand Solar Minimum.
A Grand Solar Minimum?

More Gun-Grabbing Grandstanding From Fauxcahontas
Elizabeth Warren: Need Federal Limit on Gun Purchases. JWR’s Comments: Warren’s lifetime of fabrications, her wacky socialist ideas, her confiscatrtory tax schemes (also dramatically higher taxes on guns), her deceitfulness, an insane $1 trillion in planned climate reparations, and self-aggrandizement need to be revealed to Democrat voters. Her stance on civilian disarmament is of particular cause for alarm. Cars are involved in the deaths of more people than guns. And of course cars and guns can both be used peaceably or with murderous intent. So does she also advocate limiting the number of cars that someone can collect? (A warning to Jay Leno.) Liz “Fauxcahontas” Warren is just a tyro at tyranny, but then she’s just getting started. Lord help us if she ever becomes President.
Californians Fume Over Intentional Power Outage
Californians fume over PG&E power outage: ‘A humongous inconvenience’. JWR’s Comment: How’s that Tesla car working out, for you? Blog reader Butch E. had this comment: “Not a bad thing. Might get people to start preparing for emergencies more than they do now. Or, put another way, a million people just became preppers, whether they want to or not. ”
China Using Forced Sterilization, Abortion for Genocide
H.L. forwarded this at Breibart: Concentration Camp Survivors: China Using Forced Sterilization, Abortion for Genocide. The article begins thusly:
“Women who have survived China’s concentration camps for Muslim ethnic minorities reported widespread rape, forced abortions, forced sterilization, and other extreme sexual human rights atrocities in accounts published this weekend.
Speaking to the Washington Post, the women echo the experiences of others who have escaped the estimated thousands of concentration camps built in Xinjiang, China’s largest and westernmost province, to house Uighur, Kazakh, and Kyrgyz ethnic people. While survivors tend to be Kazakh – they can use their dual citizenship to escape to neighboring Kazakhstan – the majority of the 1 to 3 million people trapped in the camps are believed to be Uighurs. Others who have survived have been able to use their marital status to citizens of Pakistan or other neighboring countries to place pressure on Beijing to release them.
The nations themselves have not made any official statements condemning the Communist Party’s attempt to eradicate ethnic minorities in Xinjiang – sometimes actively praising it – but have quietly helped individuals with the influence to get their attention.
Camp survivors have previously testified to extreme torture, killings, live organ harvesting, infanticide, and slavery in the camps. An Associated Press (AP) report published last year revealed that some clothes made in slave facilities in the concentration camps made its way to America.”

14 Billion Police License Plate Database, Knows All
Reader C.M. sent us this: 14 Billion Police License Plate Database, Knows Where You Are In Real-Time. Here is a quote:
“Three major Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) companies have created a mind-boggling database of 14 billion license plates that allows law enforcement to track anyone in real-time.
The Digital Recognition Network (DRN) has a database of over 8 billion license plates and boasts about sending customers (law enforcement) live vehicle location alerts.
‘If you think there is nothing you can do to automatically detect vehicles, think again. DRN’s Live Alerts, part of the DRNsights for Insurance solution, uses vehicle location data gathered from over 8 billion nationwide sightings plus the 160,000 million gathered each month, to provide alerts when vehicles are detected.’
Vigilant Solutions webpage has a database of over 5 billion license plates and collects a little less than DRN daily.”
