The Latest SPLC Smear Attack

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) has published yet another smear article about me, the readers of SurvivalBlog, and the American Redoubt movement. At the SPLC’s  “Hatewatch” web page, an article titled “Far-right survivalist and icon of ‘Patriot’ movement predicts religious civil war” was published on January 3, 2019. This  latest SPLC attack piece begins:

“The framer of a far-right survivalist movement in the Pacific Northwest rang in the new year by warning of religious civil war. James Wesley, Rawles, (sic) a former U.S. Army intelligence officer and self-described religious separatist who once called Islam a “religion of evil and death,” thinks a “war of world views” may come as early as 2020. And he’s urging his readers to strategically relocate inland to red states.”

By cleverly mixing facts, innuendo, and guilt by association, the SPLC’s Hatewatch editors have repeatedly smeared JWR, SurvivalBlog, and the American Redoubt political migration movement. This is just the latest in their long string of baseless attacks. They published similar smear pieces in 2011, and 2013. Their defaming accusations were also parroted by others on several occasions, most notably in 2017. This modus operandi perfectly matches what Prager University warned about, in their video: The “Anti-Hate” Group That Is a Hate Group.

Crank Up the Sinister to 11

Look closely at the layout of the SPLC’s latest attack piece, The portrait photo of me that they used is blown up and tightly-cropped. It has enhanced contrast, a darkening screen cast over the bottom half (to make me look like I have a Tricky Dick Nixon 10-o’clock shadow), and even darker shading added around my eyes. I can only conclude that this was to make me look sinister.

The article was written in typical SPLC fashion, to wit:

A.) Stringing together disparate quotes that are out of context.

B.) Making 30+ year-old happenings and groups look like they were directly causative of current happenings and groups.

C.) Making the most tenuous connections between people and political groups look like some carefully orchestrated network or conspiracy. This is exactly how they’ve tarnished the name of Washington Representative Matt Shea. In his case, he spoke at an annual event in Republic, Washington that decades before had hosted a speaker who held some racist beliefs.

They’ve done something similar with me, making the false claim that I’m somehow representative of the Sovereign Citizen movement. They’ve also implied that I have some connection to the defunct racist and anti-Semitic Posse Comitatus and the now largely defunct Aryan Nations groups. Why? Apparently because I selected my list of Redoubt States in a region where both groups had many members, decades ago. Note how they cleverly interjected the following:

“The idea of far-right extremists seeking haven in the Northwest is not new; neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, Klansmen and other white nationalists as well as antigovernment extremists have a long, and at times violent, history there.”

Really? And what is my connection to any of them?  ZERO. Are they trying to draw some conclusion based simply on similarity of geography but with a time gap of 30+ years? Ask any scientist: Correlation does not equate to causation. To mention those radical groups in their critique of my recent essay is the lowest form of libel and blatant defamation of character.

D.) Amplifying political positions, to make them appear “extremist.” The very first few words in this article’s headline  are an exaggeration. I’m certainly not “Far right.” In fact, I’m a conservative Christian libertarian. However, given the distorted leftist perspective of the SPLC’s editors, anyone to the right of Nancy Pelosi might be seen as “far right.” Such is their view of the world, when seen through their reddish-colored glasses.

E.) Not content with just quoting me out of context, they also stretch what I’ve written into something substantially different. For example, note how they wrote “…while hinting at the “New World Order” and Agenda 21…” Did I make any such mention or hint? No, I did not!  So why did they feel obliged to include that conclusion? Obviously, to make me look like a conspiracy theorist and to lump me together with unhinged individuals.

F.) Pulling quotes that are vastly divided in time and subject matter. Here is just one example:  “Though he doesn’t claim ownership of the movement, he [Rawles] has a vision to “pioneer a nation out of a wilderness” by building a bastion of religious conservatism, which he’s described as “God’s will for the region,” able to withstand a perceived onslaught from liberals and government or an eventual societal collapse.  That “pioneer a nation out of a wilderness” phrase was a quote from a radio interview, where I was describing the storyline my fictional novel Land of Promise. That novel is set decades in the future in a fictional (nonexistent) pioneering country called The Ilemi Republic in eastern Africa. That fictional work describes a devastating pandemic and the advent of a global Islamic Caliphate. To include that fiction quote and make it appear that I was somehow describing the present-day circumstances of the completely unrelated American Redoubt movement is not just irresponsible–it is wickedly libelous.

G.) They mischaracterize my prediction of a possible future civil war as a “Religious Civil War”.  I never stated that.  They blew one part of this sentence out of proportion:  “It will be the Second Civil War, here in America and caused by the gulf between the right and left—or between the godly and the godless—or between the libertarians and the statists—or between the individualists and the collectivists.”  So by including “…the godly and the godless…” in the list of differences, they amplify this into a claim I’m predicting a “Religious Civil War”! And this mischaracterization wasn’t just an idle aside. No, it is part of their critique’s headline. That is an outright smear.  Look for the words “Religion” or “Religious”, “Christian”, or “Islam” anywhere in my January 1 essay. You won’t find them. The main focus of my essay was on politics, not religion.

I also have a few other more minor quibbles: The top photo montage puts me side by side with Washington Representative Matt Shea. He is a man whom I’ve never met or even spoken with. His ideas do not match my own, but we are in basic agreement on some points–most importantly that Eastern Washington should become the 51st State of the Union. Why would they juxtapose me–someone with zero political ambitions–with someone who regularly seeks political office? What is the subconscious message that the SPLC is pushing? That I’m seeking political power?

One other quibble is that they refer to the Redoubt movement as a political manifestation in the Pacific Northwest.  Apparently the SPLC’s writers are ignorant of the geographical distinction between the Pacific Northwest and the Inland Northwest. The American Redoubt movement is definitely in the latter! Most Redoubters want nothing to do with the liberals who dominate The Wet Side of the Cascade mountain range.

What is Conveniently Left Out

The most significant part of the SPLC’s hit piece are some keys facts that it intentionally doesn’t mention about me:

1.) That I’m consistently and outspokenly anti-racist.

2.) That I’m consistently and outspokenly pro-Israel.

3.) That I oppose a violent overthrow of our Constitutional government.

4.) That I’ve never intended the American Redoubt movement to be secessionist.  Rather, I have always encouraged state partition, when and where appropriate, following established Constitutional precedents. (The same same way that West Virginia was partitioned from Virginia.) The terms partition and secession are not synonymous!  One is constitutionally mandated, while the other is not.

The other thing that is prominent by its absence is a link to the essay itself. By omitting that, they leave their readers only with their selected out-of-context quotes from my essay, previous writings, and from assorted radio interviews.

The SPLC’s Change The Terms Censorship Campaign

One very intimidating part of the leftist SPLC’s War on Anyone to the Right of Us is their censorship campaign dubbed Change The Terms, that began in early 2018 but was not publicly announced until October, 2018. I suspect that the  SPLC’s latest hit piece against me is a part of this censorious campaign. In Change The Terms, they have ganged up with 40 other left wing groups with a “set of guidelines” designed to pressure tech companies to de-legitimize, de-monetize, and de-platform their political opponents, by labeling them “hateful.” It appears that the SPLC Change The Terms organizers have had an influence on Facebook, Twitter, Apple (podcasts), Spotify, YouTube, Patreon, and others. Most recently, Patreon’s “Trust and Safety” Committee have de-platformed several outspoken conservatives, cutting off their donations from the public.

The real danger of the SPLC’s Change The Terms campaign is that there is no objective standard of what constitutes “hate speech”. In their own web pages, they admit that “hate speech” is Constitutionally protected. So they instead encourage private corporations–including credit card and online payment processors–to go proactive to ban individuals and groups from having any voice, platform, or means of supporting themselves. Who are they seeking to ban? Anyone who has been identified by their “experts” as being “hateful”. And who are these nameless “experts”?  They are liberal activists within their own echo chamber. This is a recipe for blatant censorship of the Internet. The “Change The Terms” ballista can be aimed at anyone whom they dislike. As many have found, the results can be devastating.

Video blogger Matt Christiansen recently posted this: ‘Change the Terms’ — A Look at the SPLC’s Activist Gang Trying to Censor the Internet. I recommend watching that 12-minute video. The censorship campaign coordinated by the SPLC must be stopped.  It runs contrary to both the letter and intent of the First Amendment.

I Dare Call It Conspiracy

The SPLC is conspiring with the censorship departments in social media and payment processing companies to deprive selected citizens of their First Amendment rights. This is a criminal conspiracy.

The U.S. Army formerly had SPLC “experts” lecture on domestic terrorism. And the FBI formerly partnered with the SPLC in identifying hate groups and “extremist” individuals. Thankfully, both of those relationships with our government have now been severed. But because SPLC “hate” databases are still used by government agencies such as multi-jurisdictional Intelligence Fusion Centers, there is a nexus to State Action. This makes the SPLC eligible for criminal prosecution per 18 U.S. Code § 242, and also grounds for civil action under 42 U.S. Code § 1983.

Perhaps to fend off any upcoming civil lawsuits, the SPLC’s January 3 critique includes a brief disclaimer, near the end, which reads: “The American Redoubt is not a movement of overt white supremacists, and individuals who identify as Redoubters should not be seen as synonymous with racists.”  Well, thank you very much!  But “Not… …overt” implies “covert.” If they seek to clarify that we aren’t racists, then why is almost all of the rest of the diatribe a clear attempt to make me, SurvivalBlog, and the American Redoubt movement look like we are somehow connected to racists and antisemites? Their little throw-away disclaimer is insufficient. The damage was done throughout the rest of their smear piece. It will not shelter them from a defamation lawsuit.

I am not the SPLC’s only innocent target. In 2018 the SPLC paid damages of nearly $3.4 million and was forced to publish an apology for similar abuses. There is also a $6.5 million lawsuit now pending, and there are dozens of other suits that could soon be filed. It is high time that they are called to account for their unconscienable defamation and smear tactics. – JWR

  1. Could the attack on survivalblog’s site been inspired by the SPLC article? I admit I know nothing about survivalblog’s traffic data or server, or how often the site is probed for weakness or even attacked unsuccessfully.

I would not be surprised to see a uptick in traffic and “strange” behavior immediately following publication of the SPLC article.

  2. Trust me when I tell you that no one in Montgomery is happy to have the SPLC there. Morris Dees is not well liked and even his own extended family are embarrassed by what he has born (yes I know them). The SPLC is a small community of legal hacks that only seek to get rich by any means necessary. We have nearly 6000 lawyers in that town (partly because of a local religious college Law school) and all of them rise early to make a buck at the expense of common decency and the Constitution. After 200 years in the area most of my family (63 cousins) have moved out of area because of the gangs, political corruption and decline of Montgomery.

  3. You should wear your smear from SPLC as a badge of honor. I am so happy people have begun to sue the Southern Poverty Lie Center. They have hundreds of millions of dollars in offshore accounts and are ripe for picking by decent Americans whose lives have been ruined by the SPLC. Here is one of my favorite videos explaining the tactics of the SPLC.
Dr Carol Swain criticizes SPLC for their hate of pro American organizations

  4. Don’t let it bother you Mr. Rawles. Apparently these small minded people have nothing better to do. I put them right in the same category as Anteefless(Antifa), The Clan and the other progressive/socialists wretches that we have in country and in congress.

    1. I disagree, Harry. I think a lawsuit is in order. The only thing that will slow the SPLC’s roll is a tidal wave of judgments against them that breaks their back and bankrupts them.
JWR is preaching to the choir here, we the readers of SurvivalBlog are already in his corner.

      1. I agree with you, BinWY, that a lawsuit may be appropriate. But from from whose wallet will the money come from to pay for it? If we all support Survivalblog in spirit and encourage its defense, I recommend we also pitch in a few dollars to help JWR to support the site **and** a possible plaintive lawsuit.

      2. Unfortunately, a lawsuit is exactly what they want. They have lots of money while Mr. Rawles is a private citizen that would use his own money. Their intention is ‘OK, sue me and I will break your bank in the process because I have a lot more money at my disposal’. So, unless Mr. Rawles has millions stashed in offshore accounts as well (doubtful), they know that they can say what they want without repercussions. I know it su*ks but such is life.

    2. I also disagree. It is time all people who believe in the Constitution and rule of law to stand up and be heard! Staying silent only allows those like SPLC the soap box and lends credence to their twisted views.
I say stand up and sue them out of existence.

  5. I never could understand the SPLC attack on the right, when it was the left that marched around in white robes and pointy hats.. Their own grand dragon Senator Robert Byrd was the head wacko of racists. It’s as if they conveniently forget who the players are in their effort to brand everyone they dont like.. I think I’ll send them an Email and remind them of the role that Democrats play in the game.

    1. Isn’t it amazing how the issues of the past that the left now champion were completely opposed to in the past. While the issues they supported back then now claim it was the right that wore the white pointy hats.

    1. All I can control is me and my family to be good and just. Unfortunately the cesspool continues to expand as what once happened mostly in gang infested inner cities has expanded to the burbs and out to the countryside.

  6. I think it is wise to not respond to some bullies. However, I feel too many inappropriate nonresponses is what has allowed the socialist to take over our educational, legal and government agencies. There are times when a person must face the bully or pay him your lunch money forever.

  7. Seriously Jim, What would you expect from such an organization?
There is no need for you to defend yourself.
Your actions speak volumes over their words.
    You are better than that.
The day is fast approaching when open violence against conservatives will be mainstream and accepted. Think ‘Kristallnacht’
    Ignore the whores.

  8. At this point in time, the lines are clearly drawn. They have their dedicated audience, and you have yours. They are going to feed their followers whatever BS they need to so their racist message can perpetuate despite the truth. The rest of us know what they are about. It is a false narrative, like so many out there now, designed with one purpose in mind: to take down the America we know and love. Anyone who openly supports the constitution and what this country is founded on is going to be attacked, anyone who points out the dangers encroaching on our way of life is going to be villified with lies and hate. That is their modus operandi. The sheep will listen to these lies and hate and do not want to know the truth, so they will never listen to what we here have to say, not until reality slaps them in the face and makes them wake up.

It is important to know their agenda; it’s a Sun-Tzu thing. Thank you for informing us of their perpetual hate and lies. I am sure the fake news media outlets will be using the SPLC pubs for more fake news. What else are they going to write about?

  9. Odd, I have been here several years and not seen any hate.
I have never had any inclination to move west, but if that’s what you think is going to make you happy I think you should go for it. It ain’t against the law and it’s no body’s business where you prefer to live…..

BTW if I did decide I want to hate somebody, when did that become illegal? Why don’t these judgmental people go find something else to do with their time?

  10. “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” – Matthew 5:11-12 KJV

You have enemies? Good. That means you’ve stood up for something, sometime in your life.” – Winston Churchill (30 Nov 1874 – 24 Jan 1965)

“You have enemies? Why, it is the story of every man who has done a great deed or created a new idea. It is the cloud which thunders around everything that shines. Fame must have enemies, as light must have gnats. Do not bother yourself about it; disdain. Keep your mind serene as you keep your life clear.” – Victor Hugo (26 Feb 1802 – 22 May 1885)

“A man with no enemies is a man with no character.” Variant: “If you don’t have enemies, you don’t have character” – Paul Newman (26 Jan 26 1925 – 26 Sep 2008)

  11. James: I have never, ever respected the far left SPLC! I am ashamed it is based in my home state of Alabama. They are just another example of what the far left will go to in efforts to destroy good Americans who love their country, god and the Constitution.! If you file suit, I will be honored to make a contribution to your defense fund.

  12. Always, ALWAYS and all ways get right up the Leftists face. They are cowards, hit back harder. Start a campaign to fund a lawsuit and never back down. They are communists, the second most murderous and destructive fanatical religion in the history of the world. Never back down, never compromise, never surrender your firearms, and never get on the railcars. If you back down you will eventually be bulldozed into a trench.

I’ve been reading your material and Blog for, trying to remember, 9 years, maybe 8 and have come back to a daily stop here for several months now, again. Thank you for your service to our nation and I don’t mean that as some ‘honor the troops’ throw away line, I mean as a thought leader, Christian inspiration, and man of public integrity.

The LORD will bless those who stay diligent in the faith. May God be with you even now.

  13. Mr. Rawles,
You are a very dangerous man. You have been indoctrinating many people in love of country, self sufficiency, honest government and worst of all: worshipping GOD.

“They” need to control ALL the airwaves. You are just one of “their” targets for removal.

We will see how this plays out.

    1. Yes, how dare you Mr. Rawles to encourage love of GOD, love of a free country, encouraging people to be accountable for themselves by encouraging self-sufficiency. Aren’t we just supposed to tow the socialist line and let uncle .gov take care of all our needs. I don’t know. Who is John Galt?

  14. It is time to file suit against SPLC as other have in the recent past. Several of the suits have been decided in favor of the plaintiffs. I would urge you to do the same. I have urged the Oath Keepers organization to do the same, but, unfortunately, they choose not to rock the boat.

  15. The SPLC just made your point, perhaps better than you did with the article on the division in the USA. The SPLC hates you and wants you enslaved or dead. And Dees Sees nothing wrong with that since they are “saving the world from evil”.

We believe in leaving people alone when they differ (and aren’t being a nuisance).

They believe our very existence is a threat, so search and destroy.

  16. Well all I can say is you must be doing something right to have them so worried about your work that they feel the need to attack you that way . Keep up the good work .

  17. I hope you do know that this will only galvanize those that believe in this movement, right?

On another note to all those readers out there, I have paid my subscription if all of you do the same it can make it easier, should a law suit be chosen on our collective behalf.

If more is needed, ask for it, I know attorneys will charge even for the use of a paperclip.

  18. I cannot help but agree with Carl about you getting to them. They fear what they cannot control and they will never control our actions, much less our minds. It is not at all that sad that the SPLC members and their ilk will perish early when the poo hits the fan. Law books are not nearly as eatable as beans and rice, nor do they make great physical weapons for self defense. Oh well, not our problem. The more I read and learn about people like them the sooner I see a reset coming. JWR keep up the good work. Just do not waste to much of your time trying to defend yourself from idiots. My Dad once told me ” Son, you cannot reason with idiot, or argue with an idiot; so just don’t waste your time or energy, there is always something more productive to do.” Those of us that appreciate your hard work to help people will not be swayed in our opinions, and neither will the SPLC.

  19. Any chance of a Go Fund Me, or similar platform, being set up to support a Survival Blog lawsuit against SPLC? I would definitely contribute some $$ to that.

  20. I have to say that I can go through the course of a year and never think about the organization, much less care about anything that the SPLC says about anything.

My general impression of the organization is that it is an apologist for bad behavior of its followers.

  21. SPLC used to send their propaganda/hate literature to the Dept of Juvenile Justice in KY. As early as 2011 from reading their fecal matter, anyone not agreeing with their particular agenda was a hate group. They listed Ron Paul, the Constitutional Party, and so on as hate groups.
Sir, I have read your blog, your books, and even submitted a couple essays, but have always admired your stand regarding racism, Christianity, and other issues. We appreciate your work and are confident that when the SPLC speaks, they ooze with lies, distortion, bias, and hate.

  22. Jim, I encourage you to file the suit. Tell us what is needed financially and we will come up with it. It will be an honor to stand with you and Survival Blog as you have so faithfully stood for us. Through Survival Blog I came to see that I am not alone in my perceptions of the world condition. You are not alone either brother.

Good friends, I have sent my .10 cent pledge. I encourage you to do the same (or better) ASAP.

  23. This group of professional liars has been allowed to dominate the national discussion panel for way too long. I never believe anything they say (the opposite is probably true), and they themselves are the greatest hate group in the US. Please sue them.

  24. While the call for a lawsuit against the SPLC is warranted and justifiable it should be noted that a war chest of hundreds of thousands of dollars needs to be collected before such a monumental task be attempted. The SPLC is back by major donors and the government. A coalition of those previously attacked should file a class action suit with the help of an appropiate legal team. A sniping attempt will do you no good.

  25. Jim,
I have contributed my .10 cent pledge for 2019 Of $36.00 and I encourage everyone to do the same, as a first important matter to continue Survival Blog. Secondly, don’t take your eye off the ball and involve yourself in the swill of a left wing/socialist/communist/nut job/hate group, masquerading as the savior of America that calls itself SPLC. Most everyone I know recognizes them as an extreme nut job organization. I and others I know really need the information that exists and is continually offered here. Don’t waste your time with this swill they regurgitate. If the time comes for a fight, we’ll gladly step up shoulder to shoulder with you against the cowards. Keep up the good work and the faith. Your answer to their lies and manufactured B.S. is sufficient, for now. I know of what I speak I have been down the road, bought the tee shirt, washed my truck with it, and threw it away.

  26. “Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.”

We are, all of us, in good company brothers and sisters. The timing of this attack is probably no coincidence. The Storm we’ve all been watching for years is now closer than ever and we must be ready.

Well done, James. SB is a good thing and the great good it has done – and will do – will become even more evident in the months and years ahead.

Give us an opportunity to chip in for some legal work and let’s see the SPLC squirm.

  27. Mr. Rawles, I say keep your money in your pockets for much more important things. These guys are the dregs and like barking mongrel whelps. Pay no attention to them as they hope that you will. Time for engaging will come soon enough. All the best-Harry.

  28. JWR – pay no attention to the SPLC – they are truly evil idiots who will likely spend eternity burning in hell.
You are a beacon of truth, justice, freedom, and the American way. I pray everyday that you keep up the amazing work you have been doing over the years.
Remember what they said in WW2 – recently reminded by Greg Hunter: “you know you are over the target when the flack increases”
By the way – would love to see you interviewed on Greg Hunter.

  29. JWR, as a reader since 2010 I know you have had to endure slings and arrows in the pursuit of truth according to your vision and leading from our Lord. Keep it up and lets all pray for a cohesive spiritual leading and non-violent action plan to push back and perhaps gain back some of the “lost ground”. I have finally had prayer answered that enables my family and I to move from my once beloved birth state of California to Eastern Washington. May God bless you and yours!

  30. The splc has no more dragons to slay so they make them up. When you live in the city you see these rabid zealots up close and personal. They are your neighbors.

There is no reasoning with these lunatics. Their attitude is , “I’ve made up my mind don’t confuse me with the facts ”

Keep up the good work Mr. Rawles

  31. Interesting that they keep begging for donations and at the same time have multiple millions of dollars in off-shore accounts.
    For a little fun:
SPLC – Southern Preposterous Lie Center
SPLC – Stupid People Libeling Conservatives
There are many more, but this is a family friendly site.

  32. One good EMP attack on America and we preppers will do just fine and the loony left and especially the SPLC will be preyed upon by those they claim to stand up for. Now that would be justice!

  33. There is nothing so dangerous as a hate group with a cause that unites them. JWR is right to be concerned.

I work in a college and was cautioned because a coworker told me she had a class requirement that might cause her to miss church, and she asked me to pray for her. I said “Sure I will. I’ll put it in my calendar.” She hugged me and we got back to work. Apparently that shocking episode ¨could upset or trigger students who aren´t Christians.” Nobody else (of a variety of faiths) made a complaint or even appeared to notice our brief conversation.

Just as a precaution, they want me to keep my faith out of my daily life. You can be Christian but don’t mention it in public. And you should probably get rid of those symbols of your faith, too. Christians must be hardier than other folks, because when my Muslim coworkers talk about Ramadan or my Buddhist friends discuss meditation I don´t break out in a cold sweat and have to file a lawsuit.

The SPLC and its like will never be satisfied with the tolerance our Founding Fathers intended. They won´t stop until we´re all parroting their agenda like proper citizens with arms in the air instead of in holsters. Despite their claims of standing for inclusion and equality, difference scares and angers them. They want those of us with moral standards, faith, or courage to defend our country and our families to toe their line. If you don’t, they’ll come after you. I think Jesus said something about that.

  34. The Southern Poverty Law Center has a bias against Christianity and Christians. Two sources are cited; there are many others. =

    1. “Christian, Conservative Groups Unite to Expose Southern Poverty Law Center.”

“Several Christian and conservative groups, including NRB, have come together to expose the truth to the world about the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which, they say, “has devolved from an organization that once fought against real hate groups, such as the KKK, and has become a hate group itself.”

“It holds a powerful, national position as judge, jury, and executioner, labeling any group that opposes its extreme progressive ideology as a ‘hate group,’” say the organizers of #exposeSPLC campaign. “The SPLC’s goal: To silence anyone it disagrees with and to drive traditional conservatives and Christians from the public square.”

“National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) is a unique gathering of people, united by purpose and message: to proclaim the Good News of eternal life through Jesus Christ; to transform culture through the application of sound biblical teaching; and to advance biblical truth, to promote media excellence, and to defend free speech.”
    From the NRB website.

“Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on how bias affects decision making at the Southern Poverty Law Center:”

“Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) is regarded by many journalists as the gold standard for information on hate groups. But its record is dotted with inconsistencies—it has itself engaged in hateful discourse against some traditionally minded organizations: branding the Family Research Council a hate group is one glaring example. Not as well known are its more subtle ways of emitting bias.”

“When slanderous assaults are made against the Catholic Church, the Catholic League hits the newspapers, television, and radio talk shows defending the right of the Church to promote its teachings with as much verve as any other institution in society.”
    Taken from the CatholicLeague Website.

All 2.2 ~>billion Christians in the world are under attack from such groups as the SPLC. … SurvivalBlog is one of many being attacked.

When the devil and his minions attack, = a Christian is doing something ~godly to attract the devil’s attention. … We all help Christ carry the Cross; just like Simon of Cyrene.

Romans 5:3-5 New International Version (NIV)
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

  35. A little history to put this group in context…

Back in August of 2012, a man tried to shoot his way into the Family Research Council headquarters in Washington DC. He ended up shooting a security guard, but probably intended to kill some executive level people. Luckily, the guard stopped him.

He was a gay man, and apparently had read that the SPLC labeled the Family Research Council as an “anti-gay hate group” apparently because they did not support gay marriage, gays in the military or boy scouts. He also had brought along Chick-fil-a sandwiches to smash in the face of the victims, since Chick-fil-a had also come out against gay marriage.

They label anyone who is against inserting sharia law into the US legal system as “anti-muslim hate groups”. They soft peddle The North American Man-Boy Love Association as a group that “advocates for lowered age-of-consent laws.” People who oppose open borders are likewise labeled as “racist hate groups.” Etc. etc, ad infinitum, ad nauseum. If the Right said don’t stick your head in an oven, they’d be for it.

SPLC is basically a grab bag of Leftist BS and extremist nonsense. However, they are extremely well funded, to the tune of about 152 million. Personally, I think Dees figured out a way to make himself rich by being a megaphone for super-rich nut cases and perv’s.

Mr. Rawles, they say you are known by your enemies. I’d say take it as another notch on your belt.

This is a PREPPER website. People read this for a variety of articles aimed at how to survive various disaster scenarios. For some bizarre reason SPLC feels threatened by people who would be self sufficient. Not people who plan to loot and kill, but plan to take care of themselves. Some preppers even plan on putting away extra supplies as charity to help those who didn’t plan ahead. Go figure.

  36. “There’s a time for love a time for hate… a time for peace and a time for war”

    Ecclesiasties 3:8

Looks like there really is a time for hate and a time for war according to God’s word.

Keep up the good work my friend and your riches in heaven will be overflowing.

    God bless.

  37. Is the SPLC really still around I thought they went broke a while back , too

Many lawsuits against them that they could not substantiate. be prepared and ready. Keep your powder dry.

  38. I’ve found that anytime the LEFT (I will not call them liberals because Jesus was a liberal to some extent–but LEFTist Marxists) calls anyone names, they themselves are in biggest violation of that name calling.

    “Anti-government Group”

Are these LEFTist Marxists out of there mind?????

The biggest Anti-government group is the LEFT and SPLC with their crony Marxists…. Tell me any democrat in congress that isn’t “Anti-government” with their slow killing of the US Constitution. They want the entire American government dead… so they can resurrect their own government based on HATE–hate anyone not upholding Marxist values.

    Go figure…. Will ya!

  39. ummm, I have to speak up and say there’s a LOT of HATE in the prepper community. Our family moved to the Redoubt 4 years ago. Our neighborhood is filled with “haters” for anyone who they don’t deem “like-minded”, SAD to say the least. We are a Christian family who believes in helping others and being prepared as possible but if you don’t live up to others expectations YOU ARE SHUNNED. They are the relocated retirees of CAlifornia, living fat, dumb and happy on their bloated pensions from the government jobs yet HATE the government, weird…… YES we are moving out of the redoubt area and looking forward to helping others in this world.

Our children contributed to SB with essays as we have homeschooled since birth. SAD to say they no longer view this area and it’s people in a good light. We LOVE the LORD and wanted to make this are our forever home, NOT anymore.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. GOD bless to you Mr. Rawles and your family. You’re doing the LORD’s work.
