Interesting notation on the bottle and boxes, what is an “Oxford Unit”?
My thought as well.
Per DuckDuckGo: Medical definition of Oxford Unit
The minimum amount of penicillin that will prevent the growth of Staphylococcus aureus over an area 26 mm in diameter in a standard culture medium; 1 unit equals 0.6 mcg of crystalline sodium salt of penicillin.
TY RG!
Being a cartridge reloader I was curious as to how that translates to grains. 0.606mcg = 0.000606 mg (milligrams) = 2.1376 e-8 ounces = .000009353grains (437.5grains/oz) if all my math is correct. On my electronic scale 0.1grains = 4 granules of 7828 powder. Now I’m curious as to how the heck did they measure that 0.606mcg back in the 1940s.
