  1. re; tsunami of suicides
There is a disturbing number of bill boards throughout Montana warning about meth use.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot of drug use in rural areas (not just MT) , which probably leads to higher suicide rates.
In my opinion I would blame it on, high unemployment, low prospects, rampant welfare, and a general cultural acceptance of the “sex, drugs and rockin’ roll” life style.
As an aside, its a well known fact that there is a lot of crime and drug/alcohol use on the reservations. You want to destroy a people? Just give them welfare for the rest of their lives.
another example – when the Smurfit-Stone cardboard plant closed, west of Missoula, about 400 people lost their jobs… very well paid jobs… it had been in operation since 1957, and closed in 2011… a company came in and ripped out all the copper and stainless steel leaving the place looking like it was bombed from the air. They claimed they were going to create an “industrial park,” instead they squeezed every last drop of blood from that turnip and then failed to pay their taxes. Over the last 20 years the Eco-nuts did a great job of destroying as many resource extraction jobs as they could (lumber, coal). Now the best paid jobs are unproductive government jobs, and the land is increasingly owned by rich retired Californians and New Yorkers. Many that were born there can’t afford to buy a home. And this is how the Liberal elites like it… a few super rich running things, served by a massive poor underclass. For many of those that can’t leave, life looks pretty bleak.
