This puts me in mind of Ayn Rand’s definition of “altruism” (which she is against)

Say what you will about other aspects of Ayn Rand’s personal beliefs and life, she was always against Big Brother’s intrusion into people’s lives.
And “selfishness” means something totally different than what everyone else thinks it means.
