Eastern Oregon (Gary Hunt Trial)

Redoubt News gave this update on the verdict and the harsh muzzling court order in the Gary Hunt trial: Federal Court Rules Against First Amendment. Note: We’ve reported on this case once before. See the update at Hunt’s Outpost of Freedom website. It was reported that these documents showed that the entire Malheur occupation group was positively riddled with Federal informants. According to recent news reports, copies of these documents have been mirrored at other web sites that were not named in the court order, making the court order effectively meaningless. It also bears mention that Gary Hunt has a link at his site, seeking donations to cover his legal expenses. The precedent sent by this trial will surely have a chilling effect on investigative journalists. This is bad news for anyone who favors the protections of the First Amendment.
