  1. JWR and Hugh, I just want to say that although I initially resisted the format changes here afte 7 years of reading it, the blog is now SO much better. It seems more in-depth now. Especially love the expanded commentary from HJL here and the expanded history today and the reader comments.

I find I spend a LOT more time on the site without clicking on to elsewhere. I spend as much time reading the comments on Breitbart.com as I do reading their actual articles. I think SB blog will be the same as the amount and quality of commenters increases.

Thank you for all of your hard work.

  2. I must agree with “Jefferson Franklin” I flat out HATED the change. However, now that I have become used to it, I also like the more complete articles and, my favorite, “Odds and Sods” column. (It is always the first thing I read after the “Today in History” at the top.

Keep up the good work fellas.

  3. In a past life I worked in the printing business. One time we were in the process of receiving a new piece of printing equipment, and while the technicians were reviewing the installation, I asked if they could help clear up this problem I was noticing in the print-outs.

“There’s these little yellow dots all over, I can’t seem to get rid of them….”

The older technician smiled and continued his work while the younger one jaunted over to see what was amiss. After letting him snipe-hunt for a few minutes the older tech and I had a good laugh. I asked if it was something they had access to in their software/settings, and was told no. It’s hard-coded into the imaging engine firmware itself at the factory. Big brother run’s deep (some people naively think electronics aren’t tampered w/ just because the box’s tape is intact…)

  4. Several years ago FLOTUS 0bama commented (to the effect) that that was the first time she had been proud of our nation.
Today I watched a bit of the ‘Comey/Senate Panel ‘show trial’ which was live on all the TV networks and several cable channels. For the first time (since Carter presidency) in my adult life, I was thoroughly ashamed of our nation for its elected and appointed(if, formerly) officials.
The hearing was virulent partisan ‘gotchas’ and judgmental opinion, each grandstanding on steroids! We need more light, not more heat. Dirty Laundry is NOT suitable for TV, which is a force multiplier of this propaganda.
As it has been well said, “Even cats know some things ought to be covered.”
Shame! Shame on TV, but shame on the Senators and Comey.

  5. Great article on passphrases. I’ve been using them for years for passwords and for email accounts because they’re so unique and easy to remember. However, there’s no way I would let an app generate one for me. If you have trouble thinking up something, just glance down at any reading material nearby; this will give you such phrases as “nomoreunderdonechickenorvegetables” or “whiskingeggwhites, whippingcream, andbeatingeggbatter” (I’m reading this month’s “Better Homes and Gardens”.) “taketwiceadaywithwater” isn’t bad, either. I have all my phrases written in a little book because I don’t want them on a hackable computer. This is a fantastic idea and I hope more people will try it.

  6. JWR,

I have said it before on this site and will reiterate, the VCDL is a wonderful organization and deserve support from patriots regardless of where you call home. Please visit their site and make a small donation, it is money well spent.

    God Bless
