I have never commented on a SurvivalBlog article before, but I have to say that this one is outstanding. This is very valuable information and will definitely assist in my preps.
The author states that lack of carbohydrates is extremely rare. He is correct. One such incidence occurred on Wake Island during WWII. The Japanese garrison was cut of from supplies. They caught fish (protein)in the lagoon but had no source of carbohydrates. They tried raising vegetables in the coral sand of the island using human manure with limited success. My father related this to me as witnessed it first hand as was part of the reoccupation force which accepted the surrender of the Japanese garrison in 1945.
This is essential information that is largely ignored by most survivalist literature.
