The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods:

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “HJL”. Another of Bloomberg’s anti-gun minions bites the dust this week.

Bloomberg Anti-Gun Mayors

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray resigns after fifth child sex-abuse allegation. Once the poster boy of the LGBT movement, Yet another of Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun Mayors is resigning in disgrace. (Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) was re-named Everytown for Gun Safety. It is ironic that so many of Bloomberg’s “crime fighting” mayors are criminals—or in the case of Murray, an alleged criminal.)

Reader B.M. sent in this article: At Least 11 Mayors Accused Of Child Sex-Related Crimes Since 2016 . The lack of moral fiber of these people shows the underlying motivations of this movement. It has nothing to do with the safety and security of the people that elected them. It has everything to do with the overlords maintaining control of the peasants and making sure that they can’t rise up in force to confront them.

Hillary’s Book

Amazon has been caught deleting the one-star ratings that have been posted on Hillary’s new book. It is not clear at this time if this is censorship or not though. Amazon will normally allow anyone to post a review, but will mark if the reviewer is a verified purchaser. In this case, it would appear that the vast majority of the one star reviews are not from verified purchaser, but from unverified reviewers. Amazon is claiming that real reviews are getting lost in the noise.

The Internet of Things

Does your refrigerator or coffee pot have “smart” capabilities? Does it tie into the Internet? I’ve seen some of these appliances and the features they offer are really neat. However, it appears that the U.S. government has ordered billions of dollars of these items every year and every one of them can be hacked into and used to eavesdrop on conversations. This is definitely a national security risk. Thanks to DSV for the link.

U.S. Power Grid

Reader B.B. sent in this article about the U.S. power grid vulnerabilities. Symantec has revealed a new campaign of attacks that it is calling Dragonfly 2.0 in which dozens of energy companies were targeted this year. At a handful of U.S. companies (which Symantec will not identify), hackers gained operational access and had the ability to interrupt power to homes and businesses.

Emergency Care Tips

Reader J.C. sent in this article on 14 lost emergency care tips from 100 years ago. Having worked as an EMT, I pretty much concur that these have been lost to the vast majority of the population. We have been trained to “let the professionals handle it”. You would think that a simple pressure point for stopping arterial bleeding would be a simple skill to learn. Indeed, the last contact with Boy Scouts I had, they were still teaching that to 11 year-olds. But apparently most of the population has no clue. These are good skills to know!

Second Amendment

Making your own rifled barrel is not something most of us will ever do. It’s probably not something most of us even think about doing. However, it can be done with a minimum of tools and a bit of knowledge. Reader G.P. sent in this article showing the typical home shop with basic tools. Once again, anti-gun forces are shown to be worthless. Where there is a will, there is a way.

News Tips:

Please send your news tips to HJL. (Either via e-mail of via our Contact form.) These are often especially relevant, because they come from folks who watch news that is important to them. Due to their diligence and focus, we benefit from fresh “on target” news. We often “get the scoop” on news that is most likely ignored (or reported late) by mainstream American news outlets. Thanks!

At the end of all this, I believe we will find this is just the tip of the iceberg. Think of all the judges that have let rapists, child pornographers and pedophiles off with just a slap of the wrist. Look to the elites in our society for the graft, corruption, and perversion.

You may call me paranoid if you like, but I don’t think so.

    1. Every once in a while a series of arrests of pedophiles leaks out, but is soon dropped from the news. The problems is epidemic, but TPTB don’t want to admit it. (Probably because they are in it up to their eyeballs.)
