The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods

SurvivalBlog presents another edition of The Survivalist’s Odds ‘n Sods— a collection of news bits and pieces that are relevant to the modern survivalist and prepper from “JWR”. Our goal is to educate our readers, to help them to recognize emerging threats and to be better prepared for both disasters and negative societal trends. You can’t mitigate a risk if you haven’t first identified a risk. Today, we look at riots and their sociopolitical fallout.

Manhattan’s 5th Avenue Stores Boarded Up

SurvivalBlog’s Editor-At-Large Michael Z. Williamson mentioned this television news reports, showing this sign of the times: Luxury Stores Board Up Along Manhattan’s 5th Avenue

Disarming Elmer T. Fudd

Mike Williamson also sent this news of modern Politically Correct absurdity:  Looney Tunes: HBO Max Series Bans Elmer Fudd’s Rifle. Yosemite Sam will also be disarmed. So it seems that back in the early 1980s Hank Williams saw it all coming, when he wrote the lyrics to The Coalition to Ban Coalitions.

No Legal Justification For Lockdown

Reader D.S.V. sent the link to this piece by Bill Sardi: Americans Have Been Duped: No Legal Justification For Lockdown. Here is a brief excerpt:

“Did the COVID-19 coronavirus “epidemic” ever pose such a threat to human life that the entire population of the world needed to be locked down and quarantined?  Even in malnourished populations in 3rd world countries that are expected to have weak immunity, there are far fewer COVID-19 coronavirus-related deaths than in the U.S., which suggests treatment-related deaths or over-reporting.”

Forced Vaccinations Coming?

Reader R.M. was the first of several readers to sent us this, at WND: ‘Forced’ vaccinations will control your life, warns religious-liberty group. Here is a snippet:

“Just as the government has no right to force us to worship as they dictate, neither does the government have the right to force Americans to inject our bodies with unknown, and potentially untested, substances…”

Terror Group Tracks Policemen, Firebombs Their Cars

Another from D.S.V.: Group Tracks Officers To Their Homes, Firebombs Their Cars

Kansas Legislature Passes Bill Protecting 2A

Some good news: Kansas Legislature Passes Emergency Powers Legislation Protecting 2nd Amendment. The article begins:

“The Kansas Legislature adjourned from its Special Session after passing Emergency Powers Legislation, House Bill 2054.  House Bill 2054 prevents the Governor from using emergency powers to seize ammunition or limit the sale of firearms during a declared state of emergency, including for Covid-19.  This bipartisan measure will now be sent to Governor Laura Kelly’s desk for her signature.”

Minneapolis City Council Votes to Disband Police Department

Several readers mentioned this news: Minneapolis City Council announces veto-proof push to disband police in George Floyd aftermath.

Just hours later, this hit the news wires: Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey rejects city council’s push to defund police, despite veto-proof majority

  1. My gut instinct and that of numerous other readers, out of the gate, was that Covid 19 was a Scam. We have been proven right. They create the crisis, then give us the solution which is always against our best interest. Maybe someday people will wake up to this simple pattern. Or maybe we are too stupid to survive if we can be this easily duped over and over again. Can anyone explain to me how World Trade Center building 7 fell in 5 seconds without getting hit by a plane? Grow some courage and speak out.

    1. Big Mike ,,,,,,,the virus is real , we came down with in March. And still are feeling it’s effects ,i have a very hard time with it ,that said ,,, i do question the way things were handled,I feel the shutdown was appropriate considering the lack of responsible by so many to do the right thing,ie not being willing to ware a mask to protect others , for starters,
As far as the official handling goes we are on our own the fact that a five dollar treatment is available but a thousand dollar treatment is being pushed tells the tale ,
I am convinced we have no way out of this mess but one ,,,all will change
      The tiger waits ,,,

      1. No one’s saying the disease wasn’t real. What IS being said is that it was exploited… and is STILL being exploited… for maximum political wampum for a certain party…

    2. 112,000 deaths, as of yesterday 6/9/20, despite “the world’s best healthcare system”. All in a 3 months; people who otherwise would not have died. Facts matter.

      1. COVID-19 is gearing up for a comeback. I think we’ll see second wave but not as much will shutdown this time around. There will be disruptions, however, so we are using this time to restock anything we consumed or could not get before. Remember, year two of the Spanish flu was worse than year one.

        1. Hello Pickled Prepper! Very wise to restock while you have this opportunity. We have been doing the very same. We are resupplying in every way we can before the cases increase again. We do not anticipate another round of shut downs or really any other meaningful mitigation, although we do believe that preventive measures including masks, unvented goggles and/or face shields, and gloves remain important. Better yet, stay clear of this bug. If you have the capacity to self-isolate, the risks go way down.

      2. Amen. I’ve been surprised by the number of “pro-life” folks who don’t think 100k deaths are worth a recession. Those graphs show exponential growth up until the shutdowns.

    3. Not to mention the perfect hole in the Pentagon with no wing impact marks.

What happened in NYC for COVID was pretty bad – a number of folks on this blog have seen first or second hand it is indeed a very bad illness caused by the SARS-COV2 for some… but certainly not for all people.

I wish it was as simple as “we were scammed” … too much of a lock-down – probably – as they now say, look at Sweden… But not all were ill intended in that push – it was looking to many many folks in healthcare like hospitals would be overrun with COVID cases. That obviously didn’t materialize. Thank God for that.
The folks making those hospital decisions actually had a negative incentive to close down their hospitals… they are all loosing tons of business due to it… but they all really believed that eventually, every city would be NYC…. or some version of it. Wrong – yes, ill intention – not most of them.

But the illness is real for many – so please, I advise, still take at least some action to keep you and your family from becoming infected – for those that get hit hard … it’s really a rough go if it.

I guess it’s the same as the knee on the part of the body holding the head to the torso. Was that real, yes, what that terrible, yes…. should the country writ large abandon logic and DATA and FACTS because of it. No.

      1. Tom ,,,,,,,identified remaines of people on the aircraft were found DNA ,in the wreckage. I to find the lack of wing marks curious , but. I under stand both engine shafts were accounted for
I wonder if the difference in type of construction of the building had some thing to do with it
I have been in both Pentagon and the trade towers a number of times (DD worked in tt5 ) out come not a surprise ,
Lost friends ,,,funny thing about banks gold.reserves being moved the week before out of TT ,,,just dumb luck??????

        1. “funny thing about banks gold.reserves being moved the week before out of TT ,,,just dumb luck??????”

No, a planned operation by the Kabal Elites. Hegelian Dialectic: “Cause a problem then solve the problem to move their agenda along.

          “Order out of Chaos”

Miss Eloise is listening to the Song, “Git Along Little Doggies” just at this moment. Love that song! 😉

          1. Your belief on the cause of the tower attacks tell me that you are an open minded person that is willing to look beyond what you’re told by the media and see where the truth really lies. I wish I had time to tell you what I know about the OKC bombing. I lived there at that time and met some people who gave me credible information about how our own government not only had prior knowledge that the attack was going to happen but actually was a part of it, causing the blast to be much more intense. But most people prefer not to here about it. The truth is too strong.

          2. I heard just within the past 48 hours or so that OKC was bombed because it held some incriminating records of some sort from the Army?? that “they”, the Elite, wanted destroyed…. I am not doubting too many conspiracy theories anymore now that I know what I know about who the Elite are and what they want which is an earthly Utopia without any Christians Present. Boy oh Boy do they have a surprise coming. They refuse to read the Book! EVERY KNEE WILL BOW AND EVERY TONGUE WILL CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD ON THAT GREAT AND GLORIOUS DAY!

          3. Mray… there was a character that stated “ you can’t handle the truth “ … I believe with all my heart that utterance applies to far too many within the USA…

          4. Had close person that worked at OKC tell me was told not to go to work that day ,

DD worked at TTs was lots of talk for over a year about what happened ,she retired early was safe in Wyoming on the day

Am told there were files on Clinton drug involvement in OKC.

            But then I know nothing,,,,,,,,

          5. Yep, well that person was blessed to be told not to go to work. Nothing surprises me where the Clintons are concerned….

Yeah, so I heard the record thing in passing, but not exactly whose records were involved. I was half listening while working and didn’t take the time to back up the video. Just wasn’t surprised that the OKC Bombing was done on purpose to destroy incriminating records. EVIL PEOPLE!

This is a saying between Jim and I, that we picked up from the movie “Schteizel”. Where the uncle of the main character, continuously kept saying “Evil People”. So Jim and I adopted it when we see truly evil people doing their evil deeds. When we say it we look at each other and shake our heads with real sorrow, disgust and sadness since it involves our country’s leadership most of the time. Once in awhile when we say it while looking at each other, we laugh at each other from incredulous disbelief…

            Shalom and Blessings,

            Lily

  2. Archbishop Viganò’s powerful letter to President Trump: Eternal struggle between good and evil playing out right now

    Pericope:
Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò warns the president that the current crises over the coronavirus pandemic and the George Floyd riots are a part of the eternal spiritual struggle between the forces of good and evil.

  3. Re: Elmer T. Fudd – I’m curious as to how many school shooters, mass murders and deviant minds, after watching Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam, decided to go out and perform their act(s) of evil?
The total sum is probably around zero (and that take’s into account, the margin of error in the latest poll.)
I / we watched Looney Tunes nearly every single day in the 60’s and for several years now, with my 12 year old grand daughter, and she has yet to ask for her Red Ryder BB gun to go out and perform some dastardly deed.
Back then, I was more apt to pull a stunt from the 3 Stooges on one of my two brothers, or them on me than to pull our .22 LR’s out of the closest and go to a school yard.

Re: 5th Av stores boarding up… You reap what you sow.
Our youngest daughter works off 5th Av. in the corporate HQ’s of one of the largest retailers in the U.S. We thank God every day that she was able to ‘escape from NY’ in mid-march and has been (working from) home here in the rural Northern Great Lakes, ever since (free of any virus symptoms). What you see here is possibly a look at the very near future when most business’, big and small close their doors and everything is mail ordered via Amazon, Apple, Wal Mart, et.al
The cost of high rent initially, the hiring of extra security (at $15-$25 an hour or more, per person), plywood or OSB (at $50+ or $35+ a sheet respectively), 8′ chain-link fencing (at $9+- a foot), etc, etc. It’ll be smarter to just do on-line orders, with half the amount of employees. They’ll save money in the long run, and then of course, the local government types will complain about lack of jobs and diversity, and such. It’s a vicious circle perpetuated by the very people, both politicians and constituents who complain about all of that in the first place. Sad.

    1. I went to Fifth Avenue with a friend last Christmas to see the store window decorations there, and to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

I did not see a single store with Christmas themed windows. Not even Christmas colors, or cultural non-religious references. The last straw was Bloomingdale’s. The windows were decorated with depressing and sometimes incomprehensible figures and objects, liberally sprinkled with masses of dull purple powder.

At the time, I wondered if there would be any window decorations the following Christmas. It felt to me that they had finally gone too far. They have robbed the Christ Child’s birthday, and stolen His gifts, and exiled Him somewhere far away.

It didn’t even take a year; and I don’t think the windows will be decorated next Christmas.

The gorgeous and reverent Nativity at St. Patrick’s was a relief, and I stayed there for a while. It was crowded with people, and sprinkled with little groups of cheerful young nuns. Much better.

A weird sequel: I looked up the Bloomingdale’s 2019 Christmas window display online. Shock. NONE of the windows were of what was actually there. Online? A Nativity window, lots of cheerful Christmas colors…. Reality? Depressed, surreal drifts of purple powder.

  4. Removing history is part of what must be done in order to conquer. Hitler removed the books. Special Forces manual tells you to disrupt and remove. Sun Tzu the same. Pretty sure we, American Soldiers, took out a bunch of statues, paintings etc during the Gulf Wars of SH.
So by removing videos from social media, tv shows such as “Cops”, movies such as Gone With The Wind, Statues not just of the civil war but of EVERYTHING as well as objects like certain flags you lay the groundwork day by day.
We are losing and buying all the guns in the world will not change that.

    1. I agree Matt- since we live in a closed universe there are only so many things mankind can do. They do not want us learning from history (though it is doubtful that most of us would anyhow) because we might want to not go down that same path again. As someone once said, “learn from others mistakes because you don’t have enough time to make them all yourself.!

    2. Absolutely. Mao Zedong and the communist party did the same thing during the “cultural revolution” in China.

I have to wonder why they insist on taking down statues of Gen’l RE Lee but are fine with any likeness of Gen’l US Grant. Grant was a slave-owner. Lee was not. Few seem to recall that inconvenient bit of history.

  5. I’m sure that the Minneapolis city charter states that the city has to have and fund a police department. The council can’t just decide they don’t want one. They would have to go through the proper procedures to amend the city charter, which I’m sure the populace would thoroughly reject. It’s all just bluster.

    1. Do you not realize that these modern “leaders” selectively enforce laws and ignore what they do not like or want? The rule of law is pretty much dead in that city. And the concept is rolling throughout America.

  6. which is why for the last 5 years I have been slowly accumulating Hard copies of books, and original uncut versions of movies and tv series on dvd. Anything electronic can be manipulated and rewritten. Probably in the future going to a library will cause the media police to make a visit to your home.

    1. Hey wry bred, you have a point and I don’t think Ray Bradbury’s novel Fahrenheit 451 is too far fetched. I have the 1976 edition and in the “Afterword” as he calls it, he says, “Only six weeks ago I discovered that, over the years, some cubby-hole editors at Ballantine Books, fearful of contaminating the young, had, bit by bit, censored some 75 separate sections form the novel. Students, reading the novel which, after all, deals with censorship, and book-burning in the future, wrote to tell me of this exquisite irony.”

    2. Very smart, Wry Bred! The building of personal libraries with hard copies is an important endeavor, and should be part of all our preparedness plans.

    3. My wife and I are cleaning out my mother in laws house now that she is in a nursing home. One of the first things we saved was a complete set of encyclopedias from the late 1970’s she had.

    4. I am in the company of people who take action. This quote comes to mind.

“The Tyranny of a prince in an oligarchy is not so dangerous to the public welfare as the apathy of a citizen in a democracy.” – Charles Montesquieu

No apathy here. We sometimes disagree and we take action in spite of it.

      Carry on in grace

  7. The mayor of Minneapolis wants federal money for the city that he allowed to burn and be looted! How’s that for audacity? If they will not round up the perps responsible for the destruction and force them to pay for the damages, they can just whistle for money. Not my problem and not my responsibility as a tax payer. This whole pretext that the protests and looting are about one incident just doesn’t pass the smell test. I have heard that there are a few unused FEMA camps just waiting for a few thousand occupants. Hmmm, makes one think.

  8. Scary times. No doubt government in cities is becoming a problem. People, we must stand up. Run for office and if you get elected dont change. Stay conservative. Dont be pushed around by the lying liberals.

  9. I hope they do disband the police department! They’ll have Mogadishu in less than a month! There’ll never be a democrat elected there EVER AGAIN!

  10. A couple nights ago I watched Blazing Saddles that I DVR captured 6 months ago. Unfortunately I caught it late and missed the first 30 Minutes.
I went to Amazon Prime yesterday and bought new DVD’s for myself and 2 adult children. Cost with Prime was $10.25 plus tax. This morning it was $15. Now, at 10:30
it is $19.99 plus $4.57 shipping + Tax. No prime.

Such a racist show. A show with an inept Governor, corrupt Attorney General, a town I with no law and order, and a prostitute. German SS, Camel Jockey, Mexican outlaws, and a biker gang on horseback as bad guys.
Then the railroad workers demand a plot of land for their help. The white privilege mayor of Rock Ridge says: “Ok, for the “N” and Chinks; But NOT for the Irish.”
    The poor Irish!!

    1. Hey Captain, and who else but Clint Eastwood could have gotten away with making Grand Torino in 2008, with all the “racial” slurs. He points out in one of the featurettes that people nowadays just choose to be offended and it didn’t used to be that way so much. Aside from the N word, I think he’s right. In the movie he plays a polish guy named Kowalski and his friend the barber always calls him “you dumb Polack” and they insult each other back and forth with racial slurs, but are the best of friends. I had an Italian friend growing up and we all called him Woppy, I can’t even remember his real name, but nobody thought a thing of it. And Jim the Dumb Polack, another family friend, always laughed when people called him that. But if you ever needed anything fixed or figured out, or reverse engineered, you guessed it, Jim was the one people called.

Times are changing and we have to go with it, but people choosing to be offended doesn’t make our society better IMO. In the end of Grand Torino, Walt Kowalski gives his mint-condition 1972 Grand Torino to the “Gook” kid that lives next door and Walt sacrificed what was left of his life to save those “Gook” kids from a gang that was messing up the neighborhood. Lucky for them they chose not to be offended in the beginning, but befriended Walt instead. Yeah, yeah, it’s just a movie but the concept is still true: society is much better off when we learn not to be offended, and make friends of our enemies instead of letting things spiral out of control.

      1. I grew up on Long Island. Everyone bagged on everyone back then. The blacks on the whites, the whites on the blacks, the Irish on the Italians, and of course those Polacks! It was a part of being friends! These days, you can’t even say “hello” without offending SOMEONE. To all those “someones” out there; Quit yer whinin’ and grow a damned funnybone!

    2. I love Blazing Saddles! It is included on most “top comedy films” lists.

I also have a bootleg VHS copy of Disney’s “Song of the South”, which is no longer available due to insensitive cultural portrayals. Zip-a-dee-do-dah!

  11. The Media Mind Control Police are out in full force. Pull down what info you can on Agenda 21 and the Corona Plandemic. Videos for the latter on YouTube were recently deleted as “not being in accordance with our guidelines”. In other words, if you don’t think like the radical left, you can’t use our media sites.

    1. The term ‘racist’ was coined by Leon Trotsky, one of Uncle Joe Stalin’s minions to be used in the communists’ class struggle campaign to accomplish their goal of communist world domination. I reject the word and the concept. I prefer to associate with my own race. Do I hate other races ? No. Do I hate some individuals ? Yes- determined by those peoples’ actions, whether they are my race or not. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt unless and until they cross me. The democrats/communists have crossed me too many times. So I reject them, their language, their socialism, their tactics, their propaganda, and their societal goals.

      1. P.S.- Trotsky ALSO helped Uncle Joe kill 30 million of his own people. Remember that the next time you use the word “racist”.

  12. I think if people would go to http://x22report.com they would see what is really going on in the background. Check out episode 2196b for starters, then look at some older posts on the surface we don’t see much happening but in the background Trump is very busy. This is not just someone’s opinion blog, I think it is worth watching.

    1. You are correct, citizen journalists finding the real truth are working hard through In Pursuit of the Truth (IPOT), and In the Matrixxx.com as well. But don’t just believe their findings, they always encourage to research and learn for yourself.

  13. Re: “forced” vaccinations
I have worked in various medical fields for over fifty years as a Navy Corpsman, a clinical laboratory technician and as a registered nurse. I have watched as nurses stopped doing their own cleaning of wards and patient rooms, and various other “cost-saving” changes that have not improved the hospital inpatient quality of life. I was taught that with regard to medications, whether oral, IM or IV, etc. the nurse is to follow five rights.
    1. Right patient
    2. Right medication
    3. Right route
    4. Right time
    5. Right dose
There was also an implied 6th right, unless the patient was on a legal hold permitted by law or a court with jurisdiction, and that right was the right to refuse the medication. A doctor might “educate” a person more fully about their decision, but their right to refuse was always accepted. This right was not questioned by anyone except when there was a question of competency, the person was a danger to self or others, in other words, the medical practitioner has an obligation to ensure the person fully understands and is capable of understanding the consequences of their decision.
Now the rumor is that our government will try to force Americans to take a vaccination. If true, Americans have just been judged …..

  14. After reading about the decision to remove “Gone With The Wind” from the streaming network I tried to find a copy on Amazon. Couldn’t locate one. I did order “Birth of a Nation”. I wonder if that will get here.

Why are we living in fear of a mob of communists who purport to be afraid of old movies, ancient songs, and statues that have been standing in parks for over 100 years?

Imagine if their foolishness triggers some real push back?

  15. Minneapolis City Council Votes to Disband Police Department

Can’t wait for the videos of Minneapolis after the police are gone. Should make for entertaining viewing.

    1. When did the vote take place… I can only find links that discuss disbanding but find no link that states vote has actually taken place… please provide link … TY

  16. Yay ! Now I can gas up my truck and head out for the Mall of America ! When I get there, I will back up my truck and just start taking stuff. I don’t know if I should go there during business hours and either threaten the store employees to give me the stuff I want or maybe offer to give them some for themselves. Or maybe I should go at night when nobody is there. I will need a map of the stores so I don’t miss any good ones. I will have to hurry in case someone else has the same idea as me. Please don’t tell on me and please change my name Nathan Hail to something else because we still have police in the backward state where I live.

    LOL

  17. JWR…not sure why you insist on throwing all of western WA into the same trash heap with Seattle other then the I-5 corridor you will find a fair amount of conservative old farts running around. There is a large retired military and old Midwesterner s (that are tired of the snow) living out here. Just an fyi for you, this state is being run by three counties. Until us conservatives get out act together and start working together we will be stuck with the current three ring circus.

  18. Many copies of Gone with the Wind on http://www.ebay.com including Blue Ray. When I want a music CD or Movie DVD, I almost always find it on ebay, sometime new, sometimes used. I choose to order from USA, but on left hand side of page you can choose North America or even international nations. I joined ebay in the mid 1990’s as a seller, had my first computer built by a couple guys in Ripley, West Virginia. Sold for 10 years to pay vet bills for rescued animals. Loved it, made friends as far away as Australia and Japan. No longer sell, but buy.

  19. If one was a police officer in Minneapolis and you know you have a target on your back why would they stay?
Also how many police have 10-20 years in their pension system.
If I was a cop in that city, my retirement papers would have been filed last week. And I would not trust my pension would be paid each month for the rest of my life so I would take it in a lump sum.
I remember Boeing Pilots when cuts weren’t forecast did just that strategy. They were the only ones that did not get shafted.

  20. Biden’s VP pick? Michelle Obama. Joe’s found mentally incompetent, Michelle becomes POTUS, and she appoints her VP….Barrack. He then runs for TWO MORE terms….. And America? She’s done. Sleep well….

    1. Sorry John, unless they find a way around the constitution, Barrack is not qualified to be VP. Since he has already been president, and served for his 2 terms, he cannot be president again. A VP has to be qualified to be president to be VP. As for Michelle, I’m not so sure she wants the job. I think she is too smart to take the job. I’m not sure she wants to be president. Look for Kamala Harris, Stacy Abrams, or the mayor of Atlanta (I don’t remember her name). I’m sure Dementia Joe will pick a woman, and likely a black woman.
