Driver’s License Photos in Virtual Line-Ups

“Wikipedia is…broken,” Says Co-Founder

“The multilingual free online encyclopedia was established in 2001 by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger, originally under the name of Nupedia. It is now the fifth most popular website in the world.
150Sec spoke to one of Wikipedia’s original co-founders, Sanger who — despite leaving the project in 2002 — shared his thoughts on online knowledge platforms on today’s internet, ahead of this month’s Pioneers conference in Austria.
As an open source, Wikipedia can be added to or edited by anyone in the world through knowledge base websites called wikis, which allow users to collaboratively modify content. However, Sanger claims that this has become one of Wikipedia’s biggest downfalls.
In its early days, “Wikipedia itself had special challenges,” he explained. “One was simply to teach everyone who arrived at the wiki, which was basically a blank bulletin board that could have become whatever we wanted it to become, that we intended to build an encyclopedia. A lot of people didn’t seem to know what that meant, or maybe they just didn’t care,” he said.
“Another hurdle was to figure out how to rein in the bad actors so that they did not ruin the project for everyone else. Unfortunately, we never did come up with a good solution for that one,” Sanger added.
“Wikipedia is a broken system as a result,” he said.
It is this flaw that has earned Wikipedia its reputation as an often untrustworthy source of information, particularly during times of discussion around misinformation and ‘fake news,’ a term which Sanger finds problematic.”

How in the world did a website that ANYONE can edit become the “go-to” website for “truth”?
I think a lot of the problem is that the Internet is easier Plus it seems old fashion encyclopedias are no longer around. I’ve read old fashion books are better for actual retention and learning as well
Wikipedia itself is flawed, but is often an excellent source to find references and links to peer-reviewed research. Basically in an effort to give Wikipedia some semblance of authority, citations are required. While the article itself may be bad (often, it’s ok… as long as it’s a: really esoteric b : not controversial) the citation are usually pretty solid.
EVERYONE should review the Fire and Chainsaw video. You can’t have enough fire extinguishers, especially if you live out of town.
I have trauma kits similar to the one in the video, but I also CARRY a CAT tourniquet, IBD, two 14 gauge angio-catheters, nasal airway, and combat gauze in the cargo pocket of my daily wear Wrangler Riggs cargo pants. That way, all of these items, which you will need RIGHT NOW if you ever need them, are with you, not jammed somewhere in the trunk of a car or in the house.
A friend on the Salt Lake PD saved his own life by having his CAT tourniquet on his person, unwrapped, worn on the outside of his uniform….a habit learned in the Army during his “vacation” in Afghanistan. In forward areas, CATs are worn openly, and in pairs.
In regards to fire extinguishers, Wranglestar had strictly dry chem extinguishers. He probably would have been much better off with a 2.5 gallon water extinguisher for this situation. It is amazing how much fire you can put out with 2.5 gallons of water. At 1700 to 1 expansion from water to steam it not only removes a tremendous amount pf heat but also smothers the fire. Two sides of the fire triangle in one shot. Plus you can keep in in the house for winter use. Also great for brush and refillable.

So, if I buy a Survival Blog recommended item from Amazon, the FL 2019 tax “holiday” extends from May 31 to midnight June 6, if it is on the tax exempt list, it is tax free? Fl residents normally pay state tax for Amazon purchases. If I am buying something from Amazon and want the Survival Blog to get credit, what codes do I add to the URL?
Living in Anchorage, Alaska every fall I just un-hook the garden hose from the house and wait for spring to thaw them out.. This article got me thinking. Even though we are in the city our house is far from the closest fire station. Over 15 minutes to get here and when the neighbors house burned it seemed like an eternity. My son winterizes RV’s by putting air through the water system so come fall I will use my air compressor to “blow” the water out of the garden hoses next to the two outside faucets. I also have “Y” adaptors on each outside faucet in order to water my grass and plants. This means I would have 4 hoses in case of a fire. I also have several fire extinguishers of the size in the article at different parts of the house & shed and several smaller ones in my vehicles.
How do they pass a bill banning ghost guns, if it is a ghost gun?

Long live 3d printing. If you have not taken a look at it yet, you need to. Not just for the “ghost guns” but for any other part that you could think of, and many that you can’t.
It is amazing technology.
On Wiki-pedia, you can make edits to the entries- subject to the approval of Wiki-pedia staff. On the entry for Robert Byrd, the longtime senator from West Virginia, I added the fact that he was the only senator who had voted against Thurgood Marshall, a black liberal, and Clarence Thomas, a black conservative, for the supreme court. Wiki-pedia removed my addition, saying that my addition was biased against senator Byrd. You can draw your own conclusions about their political preferences and reliability as a reference source.
