Garand Thumb: Building the MK18 Mod 2 + Montage (Built by Sharp Shooting Indoor Range and Gunshop – Spokane, Washington). Warning: Vlogger “Garand Thumb” uses a bit of crude language in this video. JWR’s Comments: Anyone who lives within driving distance of Spokane should drop by and give Sharp Shooting some business.
On another note, regarding that video: Now that the BATFE has re-re-classified AR Arm Braces as “okay to shoulder” in an Open Letter I recommend that anyone desiring a short-barreled AR should now build it as a pistol. This obviates the $200 Federal Short-Barreled Rifle (SBR) tax. Under Federal law you can legally do so using a virgin (new, not-yet built) lower receiver and an arm brace from a variety of makers. (State laws vary, so check before you build.)
A couple of my favorite AR arm braces both provide adjustable length. These are the Maxim Defense CQB Pistol Brace and the just-released Gear Head Works Tailhook MOD 2 Brace.
