SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt

This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies of interest to preppers and survivalists that are located in the American Redoubt region. Today, we focus on open carry as a crime deterrent.

Two new COVID-19 cases reported (Friday, June 5). There have been just 18 deaths from the virus in Montana, to date. It is noteworthy that Montana already had a suicide rate of 24.9 per 100,000 residents, annually.  It will be interesting to see if the lockdown and job losses cause an  increase in suicides that exceeds the number of actual COVID-19 deaths in that state, in 2020.

Armed groups gather in downtown Casper after Floyd protests. The article begins:

“Several groups of people openly carried guns around the downtown of a Wyoming city after a day of protests against the death of George Floyd.

Some in downtown Casper sat in front of businesses. Others lingered at a place where the protests began hours earlier Wednesday, the Casper Star-Tribune reports.

They told a reporter they didn’t seek to disrupt additional protests but wanted to protect downtown should things escalate after dark.”

  1. Demonstrators in CDA:

I sent my friend in WA the article about citizens stepping up to protect CDA riots, she stated “you are so lucky Idahoans really have their s**t together”. I concur, I have migrated from WA to Idaho and never looked back nor regretted a single moment of it. I am truly blessed.

  2. Never, never, never leave a body in your refrigerator ! It just looks bad. Besides, it could possibly make your food smell funny, maybe even go bad. Not to mention that it is un-freaking-sanitary and sets a bad example for your children.

  3. Seems the “Redoubt” is undoubtedly closer to a Bolshevist Regime than to the rest of us. Just an observation from down south. Rest assured, I keep a jaundiced eye on the hive located in Austin. It would do to remember that the Bolsheviks created a Soviet of Workers and Soldiers in Petrograd, also called St. Petersburg, and later, Leningrad, and infected Russia from there. Sheep being what they are, (and are here), Russians went along to get along, especially when they noticed how ruthless and murderous the Bolsheviks imposed their rule. War weary, impoverished, (the parallels, they just keep piling up!) Russians had to absorb 8 more years of civil war before the bloodletting got into high gear with Lenin’s absolute rule. Remember, they killed the Czar and his entire family even though it wasn’t necessary, just because they could.
