Today is the birthday of musician Red Foley (born, 1910, died September 19, 1968). His patriotic song Smoke on the Water topped the music charts for 13 weeks in late 1944 and early 1945, and charted for 24 weeks. This song, which describes the doom of tyrants, would be considered quite politically incorrect these days.
June 17th is also the birthday of novelist John Ross, who was born in 1957. He is best known as the author of the novel Unintended Consequences.
And June 17th is the birthday of Libertarian economist Harry Browne.

67 Years ago, the People of east Germany rose up in the East German uprising of 1953.
The uprising was crushed by the red army.
guess who had all the weapons in that fight?
And the were crushed, because they had nothing to fight with. Our 2nd solved that issue for the supporters of a free country and a free people. It still does, but continues to lose ground every election cycle. NEVER let that happen!
The Second Amendment guarantees nothing. It merely enumerates a PRE-EXISTING right. That right is self-defense and it is derived from the unalienable rights the founders listed, those being life, liberty, and property.
If the Second Amendment is repealed, so what? The pre-existing right remains. If the Second Amendment “continues to lose ground”, so what? What is your pre-existing right worth? Some ink on parchment that can be wadded up and thrown away? Mine isn’t.
Stop wringing your hands about words on paper and determine in your heart-of-hearts that you will never be disarmed while you still draw breath.
Snotty Boy… well stated… we all MUST make the decision in our heart-of-hearts…
while i’ll agree with some of what you said when your facing a stacked court after using your firearm that stuff written or repealed on a piece of paper will bite you in the tukas…
Who says I’ll allow myself to be hauled before one of their stacked kangaroo courts?
If I die resisting, so be it. We all gotta die sometime.
Remus did not post a woodpile report Tuesday. Not answering emails. Anyone know another way to get in touch?
I’m worried too…. and more worrying is that no one else seems to be expressing worry….
If you haven’t read Unintended Consquences and you’re a member of the “Gun Culture,” you don’t know whta you are missing! If is out of print, but you can find the PDF online.
Read The Bridge at Andau by James Michener. Your AK or AR will profit you little against an MRAP or larger armored vehicle. The Hungarians in 1956 developed some ingenious approaches to killing Soviet tanks.
The look into the techniques the Finns used in 1940. You might also consider Iraqi militia approached to destroying US armor.
Much of it boils down to “know your terrain and control it”.
Carry on in grace
BTW, if you have big time friends, the A-10 Warthog may come in handy to fend off armored attack.
