“Up to a point a man’s life is shaped by environment, heredity, and movements and changes in the world about him; then there comes a time when it lies within his grasp to shape the clay of his life into the sort of things he wishes to be. Only the weak blame parents, their race, their times, lack of good fortune, or the quirks of fate. Everyone has it within his power to say, this I am today, that I shall be tomorrow. The wish, however, must be implemented by deeds.” – Louis L’Amour The Walking Drum

There were always amazing words of wisdom in all his stuff.
I have read everything L’Amour wrote and the book The Walking Drum is one of his best.
I sure miss his books coming out – always meticulously researched and damn good reads. Anybody know if his Old West town near Durango is still going?
Bottom line – YOU and You alone are in charge of your destiny, overall success or total failure is only up to you….. Of course it also comes along with God’s help, he’s the one that enabled you with free choice to choose your path, whatever direction it takes you.
This is the money quote in my world: “The wish, however, must be implemented by deeds.”
