Economics & Investing For Preppers

Here are the latest items and commentary on current economics news, market trends, stocks, investing opportunities, and the precious metals markets. We also cover hedges, derivatives, and obscura. And it bears mention that most of these items are from the “tangibles heavy” contrarian perspective of JWR. (SurvivalBlog’s Founder and Senior Editor.) Today’s focus is on investing in Raufoss ammunition.  (See the Tangibles Investing section.)

Precious Metals

The annual Summit Colorado Precious Metals conference ends today. This three-day conference usually generates some great interview  videos.  I’ll try to post some links, soon.

Tangibles Investing (Raufoss Ammunition):

A relative  alerted me to a company that is producing some exotic  7.62mm NATO, 12 gauge, 7.62×39 and 12 gauge ammunition, including  green tracers, and even Raufoss incendiary tracer.  It is called SMA: Specialized Military Ammunition. They are located in Arizona.  Given their inventory, I’ll wager that they plan to have a booth at the upcoming Small Arms Review (SAR) West Gun Show, in Phoenix.  It will be held December 1-3, 2017. I actually consider Raufoss ammo an investment, if you can find it a at good price.  I bought some scarce .50 BMG Raufoss ammo for $55 per round, in 2013.  That seemed high to me at the time, but it is now selling at $80 to $90 per round.  Remember: “Buy low, and sell high.”

News Tips:

Please send your economics and investing news tips to JWR. (Either via e-mail of via our Contact form.) These are often especially relevant, because they come from folks who particularly watch individual markets. And due to their diligence and focus, we benefit from fresh “on target” investing news. We often “get the scoop” on economic and investing news that is probably ignored (or reported late) by mainstream American news outlets. Thanks!
