On February 24, 1786, General Charles Cornwallis was appointed governor-general of India. — February 24, 1807 at least 17 people died and 15 were injured in a crowd crush, witnessing the triple hanging execution of Holloway, Heggerty, and Godfrey, at Newgate Prison, England.
