A video compilation: Whitney Webb on the end of Internet privacy and the rise of media control. JWR’s Comments: Pay particular attention to sections where she describes “public-private partnerships.” (I suggest pushing the video off-screen and just listening to the audio. Ignore all of those annoying unrelated filler video clips. Video producers need to learn to restrain themselves from adding needless video distractions because they think their viewers have limited attention spans. )

An interesting new book was just released: EMP & CME Effects: A Guide for Apocalypse Fiction Authors & Preppers. It was written under the pen name “Lionel Mandrake.”  (Doubtless an homage to the fictional character of the same name in Dr. Strangelove.) I was provided a pre-release copy of the e-book, by the author. Although it is not particularly in-depth reading, it is still worthwhile and thought-provoking, and I consider his conclusions sound. It is reasonably priced and available in paperback and as a Kindle e-book.

Reader Todd S. wrote to mentIon a new medical product called Traumagel: The FDA just cleared a new device that stops bleeding from gunshot wounds in seconds.

Dr. Vernon Coleman: Most painkiller users don’t become addicts. An excerpt:

“The Faculty of Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthetists says: “It is rare for people in pain to become addicted to opioids.”

Problems arise when patients are given painkillers that they don’t really need. And often patients aren’t told how to take their painkillers.”

James D. sent this: Li-Ion Battery FireJWR’s Comment:  Of course, on a much larger scale, there is the drama of an electric car fire. And just two days ago came a report of a Tesla semi-truck fire, also on a freeway. But what happens in a confined space? Yikes! For example: Explosive EV Failure in Packed Parking Garage Leaves 21 Hospitalized.  I can only wonder: What will happen in a few years, when the majority of cars are electric? I surmise that entire parking garages might go up in flames.
