Idaho
More than three million pounds of litter removed, nearly $25M in labor saved. JWR’s Comments: That has indeed been a very successful program. Idaho has very little roadside litter, compared to many other states that I’ve seen. But it bears mention that the anti-litter signs that were erected in the early 1990s were all painted with “Cecil D. Andrus, Governor” at the bottom. What a colossal grandstanding move! (That line was cleverly covered by trash bags, for the original publicity photos.) I suppose that he thought that he’d be Governor-For-Life. After Andrus left office, all of those signs had to be painted over, or retrofitted with blank plates bolted on, to cover that line. (See the photo at the top of this column.) And today, 30+ years later, most of those same retrofitted signs are still standing. Thankfully, most of the state’s Governors since then have had more constrained egos. Oh, and they’ve all been Republicans. And there is still not very much litter.

ODOT again removing Bend Parkway camps as Central Oregon’s homeless face the reality of another cold winter. A pericope:
“Along Highway 97, near Truman Avenue, more than a dozen tents were on the list Wednesday for an ODOT cleanup.
ODOT put up notices on the tents of this homeless camp on Nov. 2, saying the department could remove all personal property within 1,500 feet of where the notices were placed between Nov. 12 and 21.”

Gray responds to suit to keep Trump and Lummis off future ballots. A quote:
“Gray stated he plans to defend against that filing vigorously. ‘The attempt to remove Donald Trump and Cynthia Lummis from the ballot is outrageously wrong and repugnant to our electoral process,’ said Gray in a statement. ‘I am preparing a vigorous defense to stop these blatant, radical attempts to interfere with Wyoming’s elections. The weaponization of the Fourteenth Amendment to remove political opponents from the ballot undermines the sanctity of the Constitution. ‘”
