In The New Yorker: The Turkish Drone That Changed the Nature of Warfare.  Here is a pericope:

“The Bayraktar TB2 is a flat, gray unmanned aerial vehicle (U.A.V.), with angled wings and a rear propeller. It carries laser-guided bombs and is small enough to be carried in a flatbed truck, and costs a fraction of similar American and Israeli drones. Its designer, Selçuk Bayraktar, the son of a Turkish auto-parts entrepreneur, is one of the world’s leading weapons manufacturers. In the defense of Ukraine, Bayraktar has become a legend, the namesake of a baby lemur at the Kyiv zoo, and the subject of a catchy folk song, which claims that his drone “makes ghosts out of Russian bandits.””

Reader MacHam had these comments about 3ADScout’s recent article on nuclear warfare:

“I can think of no other topic that has been more distorted than nuclear war.Either by Hollywood, the legacy media and even our own government.  Having been a teenager during the Cuban Missile crisis of the fall of 1962. I had helped my father stock a rustic remote mountain cabin with canned goods for our large family of nine. The entire nation was gripped in fear and that fear froze people in place.
I believe the nuclear use drought will be over soon and trying to harken back WW2 and to Hiroshima and Nagasaki is a complete waste of time. I try and read everything I can on nuclear war and everything I read points to the United State Government spending billions on Continuity Of Government (C.O.G.) and nearly nothing on Continuity Of Population C.O.P.) From FEMA’s own data adjusted for inflation the United States government spend less than 60 cents per man, woman, and child in America. This is appalling. Just when every America is sending $142 per person to help Ukraine and our store shelves are empty of baby formula.
I studied the effects of Alpha, Beta, and Gamma radiation. That radiation dissipates so rapidly with time that will not be a big killer. If you survive the first 300 hours your Alpha, Beta, and Gamma problems are behind you. No, I don’t believe in nuclear winter.  There is almost no discussion about overpressure in a blast zone. Anyone that fires a large caliber rounds knows the effects of overpressure. Even 1 PSI overpressure will shatter windows many miles away. I believe in any nuclear conflict far more people will die from overpressure, exposure, malnourishment, and disease than the bombs themselves.
There are two countries that take nuclear war seriously, that is Russia and Switzerland. There is only one subway system in the world that has blast doors for thousands of their citizens — that would be Moscow. As far as spending per person the United States is a far distant third in spending.
Mr. Putin and his vast staff has used the word nuclear in thousands of statements and proclamations in the past sixty days. Russia is the Walmart of nuclear stockpiles. Russia could fire off 1,000 nuclear devices and still have more than the USA today. Putin is anxious to use his nuclear artillery shells that no one wants to talk about. He uses the term “Pre Nuclear”.
Please, folks, send more articles/snippets about nuclear war. I believe your readers need some rules of thumb about surviving a nuclear war. Watching the Kentucky Derby and the odds on favorite Epic Center only to get wiped out by Rich Strike at 99-1 odds tells me that to prepare for the unexpected.”
