White House: US ‘Not Adequately Prepared’ for Future Pandemics
This one comes to us from SurvivalBlog reader C.B.: White House warns US ‘not adequately prepared’ to handle future pandemics without new strategy. JWR’s Comment: You may have noticed that the Statist response to any challenge or perceived risk is invariably: More government intervention, more government control, more government regulations, and a larger government budget with either higher taxes, or more government debt.

Armenia: The Unfortunate Tradeoff of Survival and Sovereignty
Mike A. sent us this thought-provoking commentary from the Armenian diaspora: The Unfortunate Tradeoff of Survival and Sovereignty. An excerpt:
“In today’s Armenia, the ideal of full sovereignty is embraced, but the events of the past year have taken us in the wrong direction. It is important to understand that over the last 30 years, pieces of sovereignty have been traded for greed and more recently fundamental survival. In the earlier years, there is little doubt that parts of our sovereign economic structure were exchanged for individual personal gain and primarily for Russian interests. As a result, Armenia went from a Soviet state as part of a centralized network to an oligarch-based monopolistic system where prosperity was limited to few and poverty became institutionalized. UK Construction Growth and Car Sales Hit by Supply Chain Crisis
Lawrence in Cornwall sent us the link to this interesting article published by The Guardian: UK construction growth and car sales hit by supply chain crisis – as it happened. Here is a quote:
“Builders reported that supply chains were stretched, with some struggling to either source raw materials and parts, or receive them, as supplier delivery times continued to lengthen.
Ongoing material shortages are being exacerbated by a lack of transport and freight availability, and congestion at the ports, the report says.”
FBI Releases 9/11 Document
Linked over at the Whatfinger.com news aggregation site: FBI releases first Sept. 11 document following Biden executive order. Here are the article’s opening lines:
“The FBI released its first document related to an investigation of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks Saturday night, less than 10 days after President Biden signed an executive order directing the Justice Department and related agencies to make some files public.
The FBI released a heavily redacted 16-page report from April 2016 related to its investigation regarding the role that the Saudi Arabian government played in supporting the hijackers who carried out the terror attacks. It did not, however, include conclusive evidence regarding whether the kingdom had a function in the 2001 attacks.
FBI agents, in the newly released memo, discussed their examination of phone records that seemed to link some of the subjects of the probe to an associate of Osama bin Laden or other individuals who ultimately became detainees at Guantanamo Bay.”
