SurvivalBlog’s News From The American Redoubt

This weekly column features news stories and event announcements from around the American Redoubt region. (Idaho, Montana, eastern Oregon, eastern Washington, and Wyoming.) Much of the region is also more commonly known as The Inland Northwest. We also mention companies of interest to preppers and survivalists that are located in the American Redoubt region. Today, we focus on another plan to move the Washington state line.   (See the Central & Eastern Washington section.)

I recently met Greg Harden, the owner of Prickley Pear Bullet Works. Harden manufactures precision ammunition that is affordably priced, in a variety of calibers. Phone: (406) 431-7584 for details on both his loads and his schedule for gun shows where he’ll have tables, in western Montana.

Central & Eastern Oregon

Brown signs omnibus gun control bill into Oregon law. JWR’s Comments: This horrible legislation violates both the Second Amendment, and the state’s Constitution.  (Article 1, Section 27 of the Oregon Constitution reads: “The people shall have the right to bear arms for the defence of themselves, and the State, but the Military shall be kept in strict subordination to the civil power…”) If the proposed black rifle ban and magazine ban also become law (by referendum), then they may force the issue of partition of Oregon into two states–severing the conservative east from the liberal west.

Moving the border: Group seeks to merge eastern Washington into Idaho.  Here is an excerpt:

“‘Western Washington and eastern Washington are two completely different places. The problems they face are different from the problems we have; their economy is different, their lifestyle is different, and their values are different. And so what works over there doesn’t work here,’ he said.

Goodrich also said Idaho’s laws and regulations would make it easier for farmers like him to do business — a point echoed by BFI Native Seeds LLC founder Jerry Benson, who has donated $2,000 to the committee, according to data from the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.

‘The rule of Olympia is very antagonistic to the quality of life,” Benson said. “We just don’t think the same.'”
