  1. Very enjoyable article, thank you. I have the colt commander size ( steel ), but have springfield armory range officer compact 9mm ( I call it my ROC 9 ) that I carry and really like shooting. What I don’t like about it is the bull barrel and the rod spring guide ( no barrel bushing ). Currently trying out the Bersa thunder models, 22. and .380. So far so good. So far.

  2. My favorite and EDC is the Kimber Ultra Carry II in 45ACP. It’s light, very well made and I have carried it for many years. With over 5k rounds I have replaced the springs once and a match grade barrel two years ago. I’ve never had a misfire, failure to feed or ejection.

I own a number of well made 1911s and the Kimber is by far my favorite.

  3. My favorite handgun, since 1967 when I first got exposed to them, has always been the 1911, with the exception of the Ruger Blackhawk in .45/.45colt. Which I find slightly more accurate and does not leave brass around you have to pick up or can’t find. I really like the Kimber but refuse to buy one. For the simple fact that there is a chance that if even one cent of my money gets into the hands of the communist state of New York, it is simply not acceptable. Same for Commifornia.
I find there is an advantage with the heavier 1911, even though limited to only 8 rounds. It’s heavy enough so when your out of ammo, just hit em upside the head, that’ll get their attention…….

  4. I have owned 7 or so Glocks and was very happy with their reliability and ability to digest just about all ammo. I have also owned several 1911’s and have never experienced reliability or ammo use issues. I now have a CZ 75D PCR for personal carry and can attest that I have never seem an animal mangle or destroy a steel/aluminum pistol, but I have SEEN a few Glocks and other plastic framed pistols mangled beyond usefulness by dogs. It completely changed my mind and I decided ‘no mas’ on polymer pistols, regardless of make. The CZ is every bit as reliable (in my eyes) than a Glock, more ergonomic, has a superior trigger, better stock sights and simply looks better. Mags are also in the same price range. On 1911’s. they are a time/war/conflict proven pistol that are absolute better pointers, the best trigger of all pistols and stout. I do carry the RIA Government model I own occasionally and know that it would defend me well. Best regards and happy shooting!
