  1. If you wonder why it would be a good thing to invest in a collection of O. Henry’s writings why don’t you do a search for his “the Gift of the Magi”. It is available instantly on the internet. It’s only a few screens long and in large print.
    You will never forget it.

  2. On Counterpart: I hope they don’t end it on a cliffhanger. Been watching it, it’s interesting but it gets slow. 1st season had some nudity and lesbian scenes, nothing like that in the second, more suggestion than anything. I don’t see how they end it on the 17th. It would take one more season to bring it to a close.

It is worth watching. They should be showing the whole of the second season on Sunday. I think it’s only 6 to 8 episodes,

  3. Wow, what bounty today.

    1. O. Henry, all of him. Every Christmas, my sweet spouse and I endeavor to read The Gift of the Magi to each other. As Bob Brennan says above, we never regret it.

    2. American Folk history. Some of the songs by lefties like Odetta and Pete Seeger speak right to me. Sometimes we have a lot in common.

    3. Military surplus canteens. I hated the too-small capacity of canteens back in USMC, circa late 60s. The modern 2 quart USGI model is more like it. Best of the lot that was reviewed. I also enjoyed seeing our equipment comparing favorably to other countries. Gonna have to get me one of them 2 quart babies.

    Carry on
