Bitcoin’s Defense of $6K Raises Odds of Relief Rally. JWR’s Comment: I’m not so optimistic. This may be a Sucker Rally. Thankfully, I turned nearly all of my Bitcoin into tangibles (gun parts, guns, and silver) back when it was worth in excess of $8,500 per BTC.

News Tips:

Please send your economics and investing news tips to JWR. (Either via e-mail of via our Contact form.) These are often especially relevant, because they come from folks who particularly watch individual markets. And due to their diligence and focus, we benefit from fresh “on target” investing news. We often “get the scoop” on economic and investing news that is probably ignored (or reported late) by mainstream American news outlets. Thanks!

  1. Precious metals dip because in the world of investment it is a juggling act. While prices on some things are going up, others fall. Right now oil and gas are steadily increasing, along with tech and other commodities. If everything else is going up, PM must come down, or the dollar must fall. PM is a hedge investment against losses in other markets, so when other markets are on the up and up, PM has to go down. With stocks gaining and other commodities up and the dollar doing well, PM will fall. I expect Platinum to meet or dip below it’s five year low, and gold ought to drop below $1,200 before it starts to rally, especially if oil goes above $80 a barrel, which it looks like a strong likelihood that will happen this year.

  2. I’m not looking forward to a cashless society. I do have a credit card bu only use it to rent a car or make reservations. I am always stumped when the person in front of me pays for a $5 meal with a credit card. I do have 4 ATM cards, not debit! I have actually never used debit and had to fight with my credit unions to get ATM only. I like cash, it prevents me from overspending where a credit card seems to encourage overspending. I am waiting for that day when someone refuses to take cash. I suppose it will come to that one day.

  3. CASH whenever I am out, even paying auto repair bill, or big vet bill for a pet. Have NOT had ATM card for the last 17 years. Do have 2 credit cards, only one of which is used and that is for convenient online shopping. I AM careful where I do pay cash to note who might be standing around. However, I am NEVER in a place where there are liable to be petty (or worse) thieves. I drive a 13 year old car I bought used. Do NOT want a new, flashy car as it can invite truly dangerous people to follow, and they are too controlled by computers. I am Old School when it comes to cars. Remember the Petit Family in Cheshire, CT??? If you do NOT know the case, look it up. Mr. Petit was followed by two murderers because she had a nice flashy car. The case had national attention. OP SEC as much as I can.
