The Editors’ Quote of the Day:

“If a person is too dangerous to have a gun, that person is dangerous enough to arrest or commit. Taking people’s guns on the say-so of a jilted lover or crazy neighbor isn’t a slippery slope, it’s a cliff.

I’ve often thought the NRA should move from Fairfax, one of the richest cities in the country—median family income is deep into six figures—and a leftist suburb of Washington DC. When the NRA endorses yet another cockamamie law like this, I have to wonder who’s influencing who.

Remember, the phrase ‘common sense gun law’ so beloved of anti-gun activists was first deployed by the NRA to help promote the Gun Control Act of 1968. This odious phrase has been thrown in our faces for fifty years now.” – Ol’ Remus in his weekly Yer Ol’ Woodpile Report blog

  1. I opened the Yer Ol’ Woodpile Report.
Like in this blog I found another treasure trove of the truth.
Seattle stinks and the liberals like the smell.
Engineers cycle between robust safe design and elegant artistic danger pitting public safety against artistic expression. As noted bridges have been in the crosshairs for centuries. Remember Galloping Gertie (Tacoma Narrows bridge) collapsed in 1940 was a pretty bridge too.
The NRA, which is not the only game in town but should be the biggest dog on the porch, should move to middle America or better yet Montana.
The photo of Yokosuka in 1945 brought a tear to my eye. I closed my eyes and I could see the Raiders strafing the Yokosuka Iron Works on the way to Tokyo. I could see the Archer Fish sinking the Shinano. I could see the mighty Mo cruising up Tokyo Bay preparing to get that unconditional surrender signed.

We did not start rebuilding Europe or Japan until the wars were decisively won.

  2. Nicely said, brother. It’s bad enough that the state I reside in will arrest a spouse just on an accusation by the other of a verbal threat. And I’ve seen plenty of men booked on this verbal accusation. No other evidence than a vindictive spouse or girlfriend and with no other criminal record to that point. Now some brilliant politician wants to pass this crap allowing basically the same thing. Free reign for the vindictive.
