  1. Anyone looking for a better takedown tool for their Kimber or other captured spring 1911s, try a 1911 Ultra Tool (http://1911ultratool.com). I bought one for my Kimber Ultra, and found it made the disassembly process far easier than the skimpy tool included w/ the pistol. They snap over the front of the recoil spring guide w/ the slide locked back, after which you gently release the slide. It aligns the slide and slide stop lever/ takedown pin perfectly for removal. Not cheap, but very precisely made from brass. I liked it enough to get another one for a Kimber Pro (Commander). Same co. also makes a spring compressor tool for changing out captured recoil springs, and it is a bit more affordable. Big time thumb and wrist savers, and promptly fulfilled when ordered online each time.
