Anyone looking for a better takedown tool for their Kimber or other captured spring 1911s, try a 1911 Ultra Tool (http://1911ultratool.com). I bought one for my Kimber Ultra, and found it made the disassembly process far easier than the skimpy tool included w/ the pistol. They snap over the front of the recoil spring guide w/ the slide locked back, after which you gently release the slide. It aligns the slide and slide stop lever/ takedown pin perfectly for removal. Not cheap, but very precisely made from brass. I liked it enough to get another one for a Kimber Pro (Commander). Same co. also makes a spring compressor tool for changing out captured recoil springs, and it is a bit more affordable. Big time thumb and wrist savers, and promptly fulfilled when ordered online each time.
Love your reviews Pat. When can we expect a Gen 5 Glock 19 write-up?
There are a lot of reviews on the GLOCK 19 Gen 5 already out there, so I may skip doing one…
Hmm, I probably don’t know what I’m talking about, but I was getting really serious about a kimber 9 for every day carry until I found out that kimber was made in or close to New York city. Hmm, I’m sure all the factory employees are hard working, and reliable people, but New York city and or the state of New York. Just me saying
New York CITY?!?
Git a rope!
Have 2 kimber cdp, one in 9 and one in 45. Both are super accurate, work every time. Who could ask for more. Highly recommend!
