  1. Even in Michigan there are remote areas to set up shop, both in the Upper Peninsula and the northern Lower Peninsula. Places where you might find 6 people per square mile (instead of the 3000 per square mile where I currently live). You’ll be 50 miles from an airport, 50 miles or more from a Walmart, and, unfortunately, 50 miles from the nearest hospital. Oh, and your might be 150 miles or more from a Sam’s Club or a Costco.

  2. One thing missed about bitcoin mining – which is how the transactions get processed – is that it requires a huge amount of electricity

    More than most Redoubt states.

And as more miners come on board, the problem solved as “proof of work” rewarded with a bitcoin becomes harder every few weeks.

One worry is we don’t have the electrical grid capacity for electric vehicles, but it also looks like we might not have it for bitcoin, especially if there is some kind of event.

  3. Remington in default? How can that be after Obama was “guns salesman of the year” for 8 years straight? Sounds like Rem hasn’t been handling its money very well. Bad on them — the more gun mfgrs go out of business, the easier it is for the PTB to control them.

  4. Remington is not in default because of declining gun sales as we saw with this year being the largest nics background check number ever on black Friday. As a gun store owner I can tell you it’s from within. They released 3 pistols that absolutely flopped and their quality control has fallen off a cliff in the last 7ish years. This extends to other Remington holdings such as Bushmaster and marlin as well.

  5. One problem with the NICS #s is that last year people were buying multiple firearms and this year they were buying one or two firearms. But the good thing is people are STILL buying. As far as the Bushmaster, if you want the best go and get the Windham Weaponry AR. After waiting the needed non-competition time the guys from Bushmaster are back at it under their town’s name.
