  1. It’s only my opinion, and of course everyone is different, but I just don’t like subcompacts, and primarily for one reason: Magazine Capacity. Given the choice between 8 bullets and 18, I’ll take 18 every time. If I’m carrying, I just deal with the size. To each there own though.

  2. Beretta sent me a Nano for testing, back when they were first introduced.

The magazine spring was so stiff that it was difficult for me, even as a strong-handed male, to load.

The best description of the trigger was, “Horrible!”

I will say that recoil was manageable, and once somewhat used to the trigger, I could center hit an IPSC target.

  3. I bought a Nano early in 2014, precisely as you suggested as my first firearm after procuring a CWP. Like most I was hyper sensitive about “printing” while carrying concealed. I’ve gotten a lot more comfortable with the idea of CC since then.

I knew I wanted a full sized Glock later, and this was back before the G43 was available. Being left handed, it was the most similar single stack compact to a fourth gen Glock that I found, and the magazine release is reversible for left handed use. Although since then I have gotten G17, G23, and G34 Glocks, I still carry the Nano as a backup, or when I want something light and unobtrusive.

I suggest adding night sights (I chose Trijicon HD’s), Talon grip covering, and I also added a Lasermax laser. I’ll be considering the Pearce extention, thanks for the tip.

  4. In my there’s nothing wrong with a .380 if you don’t want to carry full-size. It’s not meant to replace a Glock 21 or 1911, it’s meant for close, dirty fighting, like 5-6 rounds to the face.
People put .380s down, but I seriously doubt that if you pointed it at someone they’d say ‘Oh that’s just a .380, no problem.’

  5. Hmm, not being a beretta fan or knowing anything about them, I have been looking at the Sig 238 or the 938, but having just run across a Bersa thunder 380 plus at the local pawn shop. I have been carrying off and on a .45 commander.

  6. I have been carrying a nano for a bit over a year. I can’t print in my job, so pocket carry is my only option. Even though I have XL hands, I found it shootable with the standard magazine, I do only shoot standard velocity, no +P or +P+, but find it actually to be soft shooting. This may be because the bore axis is fairly high The sights are the best I have seen on a sub compact, and I don’t miss the slide release, as the gun is so smooth sided without it.

  7. Hate to disagree but the nano I have is problematic. Constantly failed to eject and then it tried to ram the next round in the chamber or it stovepipes. Every other round. This was after 200 round painful break in period. Eventually sent it in for warranty repair and was told it was designed for 124 grain bullets. We had been using 115. No where in documentation was that ever revealed. Beretta did mod the recoil spring and it helped a lot but still was not 100% reliable. Yes, the web reports are valid I believe as it was experienced. Maybe others have had better luck. Mine is a 2014 vintage or so.

  8. Beretta Nano….. I hate mine. I can’t hit the broadside of a barn with it. I went back to carrying my Glock 23 40 cal which I have supreme confidence in.

  9. I prefer the Smith M-3913/14/etc. It’s fairly small, thin, and accurate at reasonable ranges. I modified all of mine by replacing the spur-less hammer with a standard hammer. Only downside is+ compact mags are 7 round.

  10. I can not risk printing when carrying,
but my new favorite for cargo pocket carry is the Glock 42
i went to a large local store that has a range and rental guns.
and rented every .380 they had.
some were meh, some were horrible, the glock 42 felt like the designed it just for me.

  11. recently inherited a nano from my father. basically it won’t fire – I believe it has something to do with the trigger drop safety mechanism – any recommendations / suggestions. We’ve cleaned it, read various websites, etc. the trigger is not engaging the firing mechanism.
