I am not a proponent of veganism. But I am a pragmatist. Being prepared to live on just what you can grow in an oversize vegetable garden is wise, since the day may come that this is your only source of food! In some ways, those accustomed to a vegan (or semi-vegan) diet might be better prepared than most other Americans.
