Recipe of the Week: Saltine Cracker Toffee, by C.S.


  • 4 oz. saltine crackers
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Line cookie sheet with saltine crackers in single layer. (A 10×15” sheet works well.)
  3. In a sauce pan, combine the sugar and the butter.
  4. Bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
  5. Immediately pour over saltines and spread to cover crackers completely.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees F for 5 to 6 minutes.
  7. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the top.
  8. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  9. Spread melted chocolate and top with chopped nuts.
  10. Cool completely and break into pieces.
