Great article, Pat. I thoroughly enjoyed your comments and look forward to firing my own Springfield Champion as soon as I can–which will be this coming Thursday. I love the pistol’s superb ergonomics, ease of disassembly/reassembly, site acquisition, and of course, how darn beautiful it is. In my opinion, almost all 1911-style pistols are gorgeous! Then again, I’m over 60 and have carried a 1911 for more years than I care to remember. Never, ever have I owned one that disappointed me enough to say much of anything bad about it. Some, naturally, I liked better than others; for the most part, however, I’d have to concede that I am one of those guys whose bias is showing….more than just a little.
Thanks for the well thought-out article.
