Yikes! Before putting Brasso on those contacts get a spray can of tuner cleaner. Some also comes with contact cleaner. Brasso would be very aggressive. Spray and rotate several times and should clean up fine. Also cleaner is good for pots ie volume controls, etc. Stuff evaporates and no gunk to cleanup.
About lightbulb for dummy load. Survivalists not likely purchase a dummy for proper load. (Ham op would although) Lamps will have resistance that wander (SWR constantly changing) around depending on power being pushed into lamp.
Don’t overlook 6 meters! It can be a very useful band — in State CD, we used to cover the state of Delaware with 45 MHz transceivers. No repeaters.
I’m finding SB-101’s, etc. on Ebay, even listed as “parts only” for almost $400…
What would be a fair price for tested, working equipment?
Intimidated and don’t know where to start with radio? This book is the perfect guide to what options you have i.e. GMRS, CB, to ham and basic communication topics.
