Just a sign of the budget crunch times, or Anarchy, USA? In Multnomah County, Oregon (which includes the city of Portland), the county district attorney said that “low-level crimes” such as shoplifting, trespassing, and disorderly conduct will no longer be prosecuted due to budget cuts. “It is unprecedented”, said Michael Schrunk, District Attorney for Multnomah County for the past 29 years, in a press conference that was held on October 6, 2010. OBTW, the same has already happened in Contra Costa County, California, and meanwhile in Oakland, California, the police will no longer even respond to many “minor” calls.
